Hopper Drying Ovens for Fluxes
4.2. Working temperature and time changing
THE OVEN IS ALREADY PRE-SET TO MAKE THE COMPLETE TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE CYCLE.
It is not recommended to vary already preset values
a) Variation of the programming of the room temperature (Thermoregulator ELK 48):
If you wish to schedule a different program from the preset one (370°), do the following steps:
1. Press the "P" key for a few seconds, then "SP1" will appear;
2. Move with the arrows p or q and set the desired value;
3. Confi rm with the "P" key.
If you also wish to modify the holding temperature (set to 120°):
1. Press the "P" key for a few seconds; when "OPER" appears, press "P" to the parameter
" Sp";
2. Click "P", then "SP1" will appear; with the arrow p , rise up to "SP2";
3. Press the "P" key and modify the holding temperature;
4. Confi rm with the "P" key.
b) Variation of the treatment time programming (Thermoregulator ELK 48):
1. Press the ''P'' key for a few seconds, then ''OPER'' will appear;
2. With the arrow q reach the value "CONF ";
3. Confi rm with the "P" key and insert the pws: "381" and confi rm with "P";
4. With the arrow q get to "REG" and confi rm with "P";
5. When "CONT" appears, move with the arrow q to the parameter "DUR.T" and set the lenght
of desidered time. Confi rm with the "P".

These are typical temperature settings for the treatment of most welding fl ux. Always consult
the fl ux manufacturer's specifi cation for the drying and holding temperature of fl ux.
5. MAINTENANCE
5.1. Routine Maintenance
Plan the routine maintenance when the oven is not in use.
Pay attention to the thermocouple feeler, which is connected to the heating element, when the
oven is unloaded.
Check the oven is always in effi cient condition.
Check the wiring cable and, if damaged, replace it immediately.
Check the heating elements are clean from fl ux slags and the temperature sensors are correctly
fi xed on the heating element.
5.2. Oven - Heating element replacement
To replace heating element, proceed as follows:
Make sure that the heating elements are cool prior performing maintenance.
• Remove the metal hat shaped cover located on the rear of the oven.
• Disconnect the faulty heating element and replace with a new one having the same properties
and sizes.
• Fit the new heating element.
• Restore correctly the connections; should the replaced heating element be the one on which
the temperature feeler is connected; remember to fi x the feeler on the new heating element.
• On the contrary, the heating elements temperature could damage the fl ux and the same
heating elements.
• Reassemble the bottom cover on the rear of the oven.
• Switch on the oven main power switch for few minutes to eliminate any possible humidity
residual on the new heating element. Switch it off and wait about 15 minutes before switching
it on again and making the oven on operation. This allows the heating element to get stable
and have a better long-life.
• The oven is now ready for operation.
5.3. Extraordinary maintenance
Check periodically the electrical wires, the components and the connections and replace them
when damaged.
In case of any other further problem, please contact your usual dealer or directly WELDLINE who
will help you with right indications for a good use.
Please inform us of any problem you may have. Plus, please let us know any suggestion you
believe useful to improve the equipment. It is welcome.
6. SAFETY

6.1. Accident prevention rules
In order to observe and to prevent the safety of the employees using this oven, users should
follow these standard safety procedures:
1. The users must use the wear safety goggles, shoes, dressing or something else suitable for
2. Read carefully the instructions reported on this manual.
AUTOTUNING
3. Check the electrical connections before switching the oven on.
SELFTUNING
4. Switch the power supply off before disconnecting the pin
5. Attend to all cautions mentioned time by time on this manual.
7. USE CONDITIONS
7.1. Foreseen use conditions
The hopper oven has been designed for drying and keeping the welding fl uxes used in
submerged arc welding.
Any other use, different from what indicated by the producer, could be hazardous for the operator.
The supply power cables must be disconnected during the oven displacement.
Handle the oven using the relevant eyebolts and a suitable lifting device.
The oven has to be placed in a safe area, protected against mud, water and sheltered from rain
and humidity. The unit cannot be used in the open air.
Load the oven any time a drying cycle is done; the heating elements must be covered by the
fl ux during the drying cycle.
