BEFORE STARTING UP THE ENGINE
Before starting up the engine, always check that:
– the travel lever is in the idle position (fig. 3, no. 2);
– the engine oil level is correct (fig. 4);
– the engine cooling intake grilles are clean (fig. 7);
– air filter is clean (fig. 8 – fig.8A).
– the mowing deck is clean;
– the hydraulic motor fins are clean (fig. 5);
– the blades are sharp and firmly fastened in place;
– the screw in the centre of the blade hub is safety tightened (fig. 9, ref.3)
Fill the fuel tank using a funnel with very fine filter (fig.10). Adjust the seat by using the lever (fig. 11 – MD18).
STARTING UP THE ENGINE
– Push the throttle half way in fig. 3, ref. 5)
– If the engine is cold, use the choke (fig. 3, ref. 6 – MD18; fig. 3, ref. 5 – MD15). Turn the ignition key (fig. 1, ref. 1).
– Once the engine has started, turn off the choke and wait for a few minutes to allow the engine to warm up.
– To switch off the engine put the ignition key into the STOP position (fig. 1, ref. 1).
N.B. When travelling with the mower from one place to another, you are advised to keep the cutting deck at the maximum height
setting.
SWITCHING ON THE HEADLAMP
To switch on the headlamp, put the ignition key in the second position (fig. 18, pos. A).
IMPORTANT
It is necessary to switch on the headlamp once the engine has started up to avoid battery discharge.
STARTING WORK
– Choose the desired cutting height by means of the lever ( fig. 2, ref. 8). Suitably accelerate the engine and engage the PTO
lever using the switch on the dashboard (Fig.1, ref.6). Gently operate the forward travel lever (fig. 3, ref. 2) and start work. To
stop, return the forward travel lever to the stop position.
– The lever (fig. 3, ref. 2) is also used to reverse. When it is moved back, the machine moves backwards; always operate it
gently.
PARKING BRAKE
To engage the parking brake lift up the loop (fig. 3, ref. 10) and hook the lever.
To adjust the parking brake use the register (fig. 5).
DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (ON MD18 ONLY)
The differential locking pedal is the one indicated in fig. 1 ref. 4. Press the differential locking pedal in case of driving-wheels
skidding. It is recommended to use the differential lock on slopes and when driving downhill to keep the driving-wheels in
adhesion. Caution! Do not use the differential lock when bending. In case of disengagement, keep lubricate with grease the
coupling and the drive-chains.
ADJUSTMENT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK CHAINS (MD18)
If the chains of the chains of the diff lock system result to be loose, you have the possibility to tighten them correctly by means
of the adjustment bolts (fig. 26A). In order to tighten the chains in a correct way you need to loosen the screws of the ball
bearings (fig. 26A, ref. A) on both parts and act then on the bolts. (fig. 26A, ref. B). Re-tighten the screws (fig. 26A, ref. A).
CAUTION: do not tighten the chains too much; both branches shouldn't be too tighted.
HOURMETER
The machine is equipped with the an hourmeter with three different functions:
1) It always shows the no. of hours worked, even when the key is not inserted.
2) It displays the no. of hours to the next engine oil change (OIL CHANGE IN...HS). The first oil change must be carried out after
the first 20 working hours than every 100 working hours. The indicator "OIL CHANGE" flashes automatically when it is
necessary to change the oil.
3) It displays the no. of hours to the next lubrication (LUBE IN...HS). Lubrication must be carried out every 40 working hours.
The indicator "LUBE" flashes automatically when lubrication must be carried out.
By pushing the white button you can choose the function to be displayed on the hour meter.
4) To reset the hourmeter after the engine oil change or after lubrication proceed as follows:
Push the button until the relative alarm will flash (OIL CHANGE IN...HS or LUBE IN...HS). Then keep the button pushed for 6
seconds until the alarm stops flashing.
