On vehicles fitted with an airbag in the side flanks of the backrest it is imperative to pay
attention to the safety precautions when removing and fitting airbag components.
Remove the covers from the left front face of the dash panel.
Remove the bonnet release lever (left-hand drive vehicles) and side trim in the left footwell.
For right hand drive vehicles: Remove the storage compartment.
Loosen the right and left rubber grommets between the tailgate and the bodywork at the top and
bottom.
All cables fitted to the vehicle on the four black tail light connector plugs must be carefully removed
using a suitable release tool.
These black connector plugs are no longer needed.
Fit 1-wire wiring harness, green and 4-wire blue, yellow, grey, black:
a.: Right-hand side light:
Insert the crimp contact of the 1-wire green wiring harness on the appropriate blue tail light
connector plug into chamber 1 and then click it into place.
Route the remaining cable green along the existing cables in the vehicle through the right-hand
rubber grommet to the right tailgate light.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the brown cable into chamber 3 and then click it into
place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the white cable into chamber 4 and then click it into place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the black-violet cable into chamber 5 and then click it into
place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the black-green cable into chamber 8 and then click it into
place.
Chambers 2, 6 and 7 remain unused.
b.: Left-hand side light:
Route the two joined cable ends blue and yellow of the 4-wire wiring harness along the existing
cables in the tailgate through the previously loosened left rubber grommet to the left side panel.
Where necessary, use an appropriate aid for pulling through.
Route the blue cable end on the left-hand side along the vehicle wiring harness forwards to the BCM.
Insert the crimp contact of the previously routed yellow cable on the connector plug into
chamber 1 and then click it into place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the brown cable on the connector plug into chamber 3 and
then click it into place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the white cable on the connector plug into chamber 4 and
then click it into place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the black-red cable on the connector plug into chamber 5
and then click it into place.
Insert the vehicle crimp contact on the black-white cable on the connector plug into
chamber 8 and then click it into place.
Chambers 2, 6 and 7 remain unused.
