Use this to control both the LINE OUT and SUB OUT volume.

depressed,

indicator

and

GRAPHIC
EQUALIZER will function.
Q2) MONITOR SWITCHES
Use these switches
for playback
or monitoring
of the com-
ponents
connected
to the jacks on the rear panel
(TAPE
1,
TAPE 2, or HiFi VCR).
Depress the
HiFi
VCR
switch
for simultaneous video/audio
monitoring. The indicators will light when
any of the switches
are depressed.
When
the SOURCE
switch is depressed, the other switches are
released.

Use the VIDEO
INPUT jacks on the front panel for a second
video tape recorder or laser vision when edited dubbing.
NOTE:
These jacks are only for playback.

Connect audio and video components as shown
in the Figure.
2. Connect
the
line input
terminals
of this unit to the output
terminals
of the surround
processor
terminals of the premain
amplifier (PM451
or PM551). At that time, remove the shorting
plugs
inserted
into
the
surround
processor
input/output
terminals before making
connections.
Connect
the line output
terminals
to
the
surround
processor
input
terminals
of the
PM451/PM551.
When
a convertional
pre-main
amplifier
is used, connect
the
input/output
terminals of this unit to the tape monitor/record
out terminals of the amplifier.
When the surround
processor
is not
used, leave shorting
plugs
of the amplifier inserted.
3. Connect the speakers.
When
using a second
stereo
amplifier
instead
of the built-in
power
amplifier,
remove
the input/output
joint ( fF)
from
the SUB OUT-IN jacks and connect as shown in the diagram.
4. Switch the VOLTAGE
SELECTOR to LINE VOLTAGE.
5. Plug in the AC power cord.
6. Turn the pre-main
amplifier ON, and set the volume
to MIN.
7.
Turnthe power of each component ON.
NOTE:
Whenconnecting, pay close attention to the L,R,
@ ,and ©
signs.
OPERATION
@® Use of Laser Vision
1. Depress the LV SOURCE SELECTOR switch. (LV indicator will
light}
2. Operate the laser vision.
3.
Set the volume of the pre-main amplifier connected to the LINE
OUT jacks to the central position (12 o'clock).
4.
Turnup
the MASTER
VOLUME
control and adjust the volume
of the front speakers.
5. Gradually
increase the VOLUME
control, adjust the volume of
the sub speakers, and balance with that of the front speakers.
After adjusting, set the volume of the total system to the desired
levejusing the MASTER
VOLUME.
6. Press the DELAY
switch when applying the delay signal to the
signal
output
from
the SUB
OUTPUT
terminals,
and
press t
MATRIX
switch
when
decreasing
the
direct
sound
signal
components
and
the
indirect
sound
signal
components
are
required to stand out in the music signals.
. Recall the delay time stored in the memory or use the UP/DOWN
switch to set the delay time between 00 — 99 msecs. When the
DELAY
switch is depressed, the signals will be output from the
SUB OUT jacks at the delay shown on the display.
For playback of software such as movies, set to 40 — 50 msecs
for that theater atmosphere. For music sources, the delay time
depends greatly upon the type of music, personal taste, and the
quality of the recording, but 10 — 40 msecs usually produces the
best effect. For rock or fusion, a smaller delay time is preferable,
as a long delay will overlap with the sound of pulsating music,
decreasing the quality.
These three EFFECTOR
switches can be used in any combina-
tion. To change the reverberation
time when
one or more
of
the DELAY
switches are on, use the REVERBERATION
knob

become operable.

Use the GRAPHIC
EQUALIZER
controls to vary the SUB OUT
frequency
response and create a sound
to suit different
kinds
of music.
When
the GEQ switch is OFF, the SUB OUT frequency response
is flat. (When LOWPASS is off)
* The above instructions can also be used for VIDEO, TV/DBS,
and LINE playback.
(However, use the VIDEO IN jack on the front panel.)
Connection of Tape Deck
The
RV-55
is equipped
with recording and playback
jacks for
two tape decks (TAPE 1 IN/OUT, TAPE 2 IN/OUT), and record-
ing and
playback
jacks for one
video
cassette recorder
(HiFi
VCR AUDIO
IN/OUT, HiFi VCR VIDEO IN/OUT).

Connect the TAPE
1 IN jack to the tape deck's LINE OUT jack.
Recording of Tape
Connect the TAPE
1 OUT jack to the tape deck's
LINE IN jack.
For the second tape deck, connect to the TAPE 2 IN and OUT
jacks.

Playback of Tape
1.
For playback
of a tape deck connected to the TAPE
1 jacks,
press

1 switch.

playback
of a tape deck
connected
to the TAPE
2 jacks, press the TAPE
