When carrying out the installation procedure, please remember the following points:
* Always use plastic accessoires for the connections.
» Remember that the leak-tightness of the joints is achieved through the use of seals,
so that it is not necessry to excessively tighten the nuts. Do not use Teflon tape.
« It is not necessary to operate the central cap (position No. В on the parts breackdown)
if the filtration set is only used for filtration.
6. START-UP
After installing the filter in accordance with the instruction in the corresponding section
of this manual, the system should be started-up. In order to do this, all the inlet and outlet
valves to and from the swimming pool should be opened. Open the purge cap on the upper part
of the filter. Then start the pump. When water starts to come out of the filter purge, close the
purge cap.
7. ADDING THE DIATOMACEOUS EARTH
Immediately after starting-up the system, the indicated amount of diatomaceous earth
should be introduced into the skimmer, mixing it with water until it forms a liquid paste (consult
the technical specifications). Now note down the pressure indicated by the pressure gauge. It
is very important to know this pressure since iy will be used to determine when the cartridge
is dirty and requires cleaning.
Any type of diatomaceous earth for swimming pools may be used, however, we
recommend using one of the following types:
* CELITE 545
* CELATOM FW-60
8. FILTRATION
Filtration commences right after the addition of the diatomaceous earth. During this
operational function, the filter retains all the impurities in the water and the pressure of this
water begins to increase. If, after a period of non-operation, the filter pressure (with the pump
in operation) exceeds the initial pressure that was noted down previously by 0,7 Kg/cm2
(10 psi), the cartridge should be cleaned. If the swimming pool is new, then the cartridge should
be cleaned 48 hours after filter installation.
9. CLEANING THE CARTRIDGE
Switch the pump off before performing any operations. Close all the inlet and outlet
valves to and from the swimming pool. Open the air purge cap on the upper part of the filter
and remove the water purge cap on the lower part of the filter. Allow the filter to completely
empty. Once it is totally empty, remove the filter cap (consult the filter disassembly). Use a
water hose ta clean out any possible dirt that may have collected inside the filter. If necessary
remove the cartridge from the filter in order to clean it better.
If cartridge is still dirty after this operation, it will be necessary to use a specific
product for cleaning it. Follow the instructions of the product's manufacturer carefully to ensure
it is correctly used.
