Setting-up the unit

Inserting the batteries
The battery compartment is located on the underside of the
unit. Insert the batteries in the manner shown in the picture
above, ensuring correct polarity.
Warning: If the batteries are inserted incorrectly, the unit
will not function. This can cause heat to be generated in the
battery case and may cause the batteries to leak.
Only use high-quality leak-proof batteries of the specif-
ied type (see 'Technical data'). Never mix old and new
batteries, or batteries from different manufacturers.
Remove the batteries if the unit is not going to be used
for some time.
The batteries require replacing when the symbol
is illuminated in the display.
Protect the environment!
Empty batteries and storage batteries should not be
thrown away with household waste. They can be han-
ded in at a battery collection point or disposed of as spe-
cial waste. Please contact your local authority for details.
Important information on replacing batteries:
The time and date settings remain in memory if the time ta-
ken to replace the batteries does not exceed 30 seconds.
In order to avoid possible problems of consistency on
transmission of the readings, please check that the time
and date are correctly set each time the batteries have
been replaced.
