6) REGENERATOR CONFIGURATION
Regenerator configuration shall be checked before carrying
out a regeneration cycle. It is an easy and rapid procedure to
select the type and the number of cylinders to be regenerated
or rinsed.
6.1 REGENERATION STEPS
ER softener regeneration follows 7 steps. Each step is identi-
fied by letter "B" and a number on the display.
Inside the gearcase (fig. 5, U) there is an electronic card a
sensor card 4 position sensors detecting cursor position (fig.
5, T). The 4 led positions are linked to the regeneration steps
as illustrated herein (fig. 5, V):
- B1: 1st rapid rinse - led 3
- B2 : 1st suction - led 1
- B3 : 1st stand-by - led 2
- B4 : 2nd suction - led 1
- B5 : brine tank fill up and 1st rapid rinse - led 4
- B6 : 2nd stand-by - led 2
- B7 : 2nd rapid rinse - led 3
Regeneration duration varies according to the cylinder to be
regenerated (see tab. 1).
For each size there is a dedicated program.
The "ER" SERIES is mande up of 8 cylinders featuring different
volumes:
ER5 - ER8 - ER10 - ER12 - ER14 - ER16 - ER18 – ER20.
6.2 CHOICE MODEL AND QUANTITY OF CYLINDERS
TO REGENERATE
MODEL:
CYLINDER #:
On the ERA regenerator display the model and the number of
cylinders that can be regenerated is viewed by pressing the
key.

to put the equipment into service; it will be completed after 50
minutes approx.

8) REGENERATION
A description on how to connect the ER cylinders in order to
have them regenerated is proposed herein.
1. Turn the knobs on the "ERV" valves to "REPLACE" (fig. 4,
A).
2. Pull apart the two gray blocks to unfasten the valves (fig.
4, B).
3. Install the valves on the cylinders to be regenerated and
make sure that the pin is inserted in the corresponding
hole (fig. 4, C).
4. Close back the two gray blocks of the "ERV" valves so as
to fasten them to the cylinders (fig. 4, D).
5. Turn the knobs of the "ERV" valves that are fastened to
the cylinders to "SERVICE" (fig. 4, E).
6. The "ERV" valves that are not fastened shall remain in the
"REPLACE" position (fig. 8, A)
7. Check that the cylinder model on the display corresponds
to the actual cylinder number of the connected cylinders
(see par. 6.2)
8. Keep the

to start a regeneration cycle (fig. 3, A). Now the display
shows the series of steps making up a regeneration cycle
(see par. 6.1).
9. Once the regeneration cycle is over, make sure that no
alarms appear on the display.
10. Turn the "ERV" valve knobs to "REPLACE"; pull apart the
two gray blocks to unfasten the valves (fig. 4, B); discon-
nect the softener(s) by removing the valve(s) from the
cylinder(s).
The softeners are ready to be used again.

8.1 SALT ALARM AND TOPPING UP
If the salt alarm is on, the ERA gearcase will monitor salt
presence in brine (see par 5.4).
In case the alarm is triggered, the correct procedure to be
followed is:
add salt in the brine tank, wait 60 minutes approx. so that
salt can dissolve and start a new regeneration cycle as the
