2�3�2 Instruction of the personnel
The personnel must be thoroughly instructed
on the following before operating the pump:
• professional use of the pump
• potential risks of accidents and measures
to prevent them
The operator must ensure that the instruction
is re-peated at appropriate intervals.
2�3�3 Qualification of the personnel
Commissioning, handling, operation, servicing
and maintenance of the pump require basic
specialist knowledge as well as knowledge
of the associated technical terms. In order to
ensure operational safety, these activities must
only be carried out by a qualified and autho-
rised specialist who has received specific
safety-related instructions or by an instructed
person under the supervision of a specialist.

Qualified personnel
A specialist is defined as a person who is able
to carry out operating and maintenance tasks
in a professional manner based on their pro-
fessional training.
The specialist is a person who is able to as-
sess the work assigned to them and recognise
potential hazards on the basis of their technical
training, knowledge and experience as well as
knowledge of the relevant standards and re-
gulations.
The specialist is familiar with the contents of
these operating instructions and all other ap-
plicable documents and has read and unders-
tood them.
Instructed personnel
An instructed person is a person who has been
adequately informed and trained with regard to
the tasks assigned to them and the potential
risks of improper behaviour. An instructed per-
son is famil-iar with the necessary protective
equipment, protective measures, relevant ru-
les and regulations and accident prevention
regulations, has been istructed in terms of
operating conditions and has furnished proof
of their qualification.
Instructed personnel must always be in-
structed by at least one specialist.
