10.7: Preparation and Set-Up
We recommend using the product before feeding, or waiting at
least 30 minutes after the infant is fed before using the product,
in case of any digestive reflux. The infant should be in a calm and
awake state.
We recommend that the infant is in a bodysuit with legs and
forearms free, to allow for full range of movement.
The infant's feet should also be bare, with no socks or shoes on. This
will allow the infant to grip the surface as they push against it.
Transferring the Infant into Joey
10.7.1 Open the harness, middle strap and shoulder straps and lay
them out flat as shown.
10.7.2 The adult should position themselves behind the product
to ensure the infant is centrally aligned. Bring the infant to
a prone position supporting their head and tummy while
lowering them gently on the product. The infant should be
placed tummy down with their face to one side.
Align the infants' shoulders slightly beyond the shoulder
straps (approx. 2.5cm / 1")
10.7.3 Support the infant with one hand while you secure them in
place. Pull the harness up between the legs onto the back.
Ensure that the infants' legs can move freely and the feet can
touch the floor. For smaller infants, the top of the harness can
be tucked in on itself.
10.7.4 Attach each shoulder strap diagonally one at a time across
the infant's body so they finish as a cross. Shoulder straps
should be pulled firmly against the shoulder area of the infant
creating a firm surface to push against.
10.7.5 Pull the right strap firmly across the middle of the infants'
back. Then pull the left strap firmly across to the other side
and press down the Velcro. Ensure the middle strap sits evenly
across the middle of the infants back.
