When you intend to pull a stockinette over the model it should be very thin
and have a smooth surface. A too thick stockinette widens the accepting
groove too much and impedes a perfect fit.
If desired, some Material can be added in the area of the Achilles tendon
during the wet lamination or deep drawing process in order to create a
plantar stopper.
Remove the orthosis and the dummies
after curing and cool-down. Separate
the foot and calf piece with a fine saw
(a fine serrated hacksaw is the most
adequate). Do not use an oscillating
saw (too much loss of material on the
trimmed edge).
Edges should be smoothened with a
deburring knife 160P25. Sanding or
grinding diminishes the size of the
cavity for the joint acceptance and re-
duces hold of the joints in the orthosis.
Elastic Joint (neutral)
Grind out a little "V" in the back of
the middle of both joint acceptances.
Make sure, that the "V" doesn't
outreach the joint's middle.
