FAQs and Troubleshooting
Smoke is coming from the appliance when I switch it on. What should I do?
If you are using the grill for the first time, this is normal and no cause for concern. If
you are not using the grill for the first time, check and ensure that there are no food
particles between the plates. Also ensure that the grill plates are clean and the drip
tray is empty and clean. If it continues to emit smoke, contact our after sales support
centre.
How do I know the grill plates are hot enough for grilling?
The appliance is ready for grilling when the green 'Ready' indicator illuminates.
Why does the green indicator light switch on and off during grilling?
Before placing food on the lower grill plate, always ensure the green 'Ready' light is
on. When it switches off and on during use, simply continue grilling. It is a sign that
the grill is regulating its temperature.
Can I open up the grill completely so it is flat and I can grill on both plates?
No, only place food on the bottom grill plate and then close the top plate so both
sides of the food are in contact with the hot grill plates. Do not attempt to force the
grill open than the natural open position, otherwise you will damage the hinge.
Does the grill have to be closed during grilling?
Yes, the grill works by cooking your food fast from both sides simultaneously.
Do I have to preheat the grill?
Yes, preheating ensures that the grill plates are at the right temperature,
guaranteeing the best possible taste and the shortest cooking time.
How do I get my steak nicely browned on the outside but still juicy inside?
Start out with a good quality cut of meat, season it and leave aside while preheating
the grill. When the plates are hot, place the steak on the lower grill plate and close
the top plate. Cook the steak to your liking – see suggested cooking times on the
opposite page. Take the steak off the grill as soon as it is done and leave it to rest
at room temperature, loosely covered, for 5-10 minutes so the meat fibres can
reabsorb the juices.
Food is sticking on the grill plates. How can I get it off?
When the grill plates are still warm, but cool enough to touch safely, gently rub the
area with a cloth dampened with cooking oil. Do not use metal utensils or abrasive
products to remove food residues as these will damage the non-stick coating of the
plates. And always ensure to unplug the appliance before cleaning.
