OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Installing or removing battery cartridge (Fig. 1)
• Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal of
the battery cartridge.
• To remove the battery cartridge, pull out the set plate
on the tool and grasp both sides of the cartridge while
withdrawing it from the tool.
• To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the
battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip
it into place. Snap the set plate back into place. Be sure
to close the set plate fully before using the tool.
• Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If
the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being
inserted correctly.
Installing or removing depressed center wheel
(Fig. 2 & 3)
Important:
Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the bat-
tery cartridge is removed before installing or removing
the wheel.
Fit the wheel and outer flange onto the spindle and tem-
porarily secure with the screw.
To tighten the screw, press the shaft lock firmly so that
the spindle cannot revolve, then use the hex wrench to
securely tighten the screw clockwise.
To remove the wheel, follow the installation procedure in
reverse.
Hex wrench storage (Fig. 4)
When not in use, the hex wrench can be conveniently
stored.
Switch action (Fig. 5)
To start the tool, simply press the switch button. Release
the switch button to stop. For continuous operation, press
the switch button fully, then release it. To stop the tool
from the locked position, press the switch button fully
again, then release it.
CAUTION:
Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool, be
sure the switch button actuates properly.
Sharpening with depressed center wheel (Fig. 6)
Hold the tool firmly. Turn the tool on and then apply the
wheel to the workpiece so that the wheel and blade angle
are parallel. Move the wheel constantly in the direction
shown in Fig. 6, so that grinding action will be even.
WARNING:
• It should never be necessary to force the tool. Forcing
and excessive pressure could cause dangerous wheel
breakage.
• Continued use of a worn-out wheel may result in wheel
explosion and serious personal injury. Depressed cen-
ter wheel should not be used after it has been worn
down to 75 mm in diameter. Use of the wheel after this
point is unsafe and it should be removed from service
and rendered unusable by intentional destruction.
