3 Intended use
3.1 Indications for use
The orthosis is intended exclusively for orthotic fittings of the back and
exclusively for contact with intact skin.
The orthosis must be used in accordance with the indications.
3.2 Indications

Stable traumatic vertebral body fractures of the lower thoracic spine and
upper lumbar spine (also due to osteoporosis) without neurological dam
age (Th10 to L2).
Indications must be determined by the physician.
3.3 Contraindications
3.3.1 Absolute Contraindications

3.3.2 Relative Contraindications
The following conditions require consultation with a physician: skin dis
eases/injuries, inflammation, raised scars with swelling, reddening, and
warming in the area where the support is fitted, tumours, lymphatic conges
tion – including unclear soft tissue swelling distal to the support, and dys
aesthesia in the trunk.
3.4 Effects
The orthosis straightens the spinal column in the sagittal plane and stabilises
it. Based on the three-point principle with the back support (7), sternal, and
symphysis supports (1, 6), the orthosis causes a lordosis, thereby relieving
the anterior vertebral bodies.
