Calibrating the blank
holder
Before using the Ceramill blank holder for rota-
tional milling in the Ceramill Motion 2 (5X), the cal-
ibration sleeve must be calibrated. Afterwards,
the blank holder is slid over the calibration sleeve
and screwed to the tool holder.
To ensure correct calibration of the tool
holder, the following steps must be carried
out in the sequence described:
▷ Perform a zero-point check of the blank.
▷ convert the Ceramill Motion 2 (5X) for
calibration milling.
▷ Perform the calibration milling.
NOTE:
Insufficient milling results!
The calibration sleeve of the blank holder is indi-
vidually adjusted to the respective milling
machine.
▷ Do not use a calibrated Ceramill blank holder
for rotational milling in other machines!

3.1
Zero-point checking of the blank
Insufficient milling results!
Without checking the zero point, the calibration
process will not be carried out correctly.
Before carrying out the calibration process:
▷ Check the zero point of the blank in the Ceramill
Motion (see "Ceramill Calibration Process.pdf"
in the protected download area of
www.amanngirrbach.com

Converting the Ceramill Motion 2
(5X) for calibration milling
3.2.1
Converting the machine for wet opera-
tion
The milling machine must be equipped for wet
operation (see Ceramill Motion 2 Operating Man-
ual).
3.2.2 Removing the blank holder from the
machine
▷ Start the Ceramill Motion software and connect
to the Ceramill Motion 2 (5X).
▷ Click the
ton.
