3.3.2 Measuring the measuring surfaces

Two plane and opposite surfaces have been milled
in the rear third of the uncoated surface of the cal-
ibration sleeve. The distance between them must
be measured.
NOTE:
Faulty calibration!
▷ An accurate measurement is required for a
successful calibration.
▷ If required, clean the caliper jaws.
▷ Set the unit of measurement on the caliper to
mm.
▷ Slide the caliper jaws together and set to 0.

▷ Centrally position the external jaw to one of the
two surfaces and measure the distance to the
opposite surface with the moving internal jaw.
The milled surfaces of the calibration sleeve
must be fully embraced by both caliper jaws.
▷ Note down the determined measuring value two
digits behind the decimal point, e.g., 31.93 mm.
