Question: My liner has the SKINGUARD antibacterial addi-
tive. Does this mean that I do not have to clean the liner as
often?
The SKINGUARD antibacterial additive from Ottobock does indeed
protect the liner from bacteria and unpleasant odours resulting
from bacteria. The effectiveness of the treatment with SKINGUARD
has been proven using internationally recognised microbiology test
procedures. In particular, it helps your hygiene, which cannot be
achieved alone through washing the liner. Nevertheless, the
treatment with SKINGUARD does not replace the need for liner care.
The liner must still be cleaned at least once a day (as described in
the "Caring for your liner" section of this leaflet) to ensure perma-
nent hygiene. This is the only way to remove grease and oil, for
example.
Question: Vapomats are available on the market for cleaning
liners. Can I also use one for my Ottobock liner?
Ottobock liners are made from different materials in order be able to
meet users' individual needs. You should only use a vapomat for
Ottobock silicone liners. In any case, contact your prosthetist about
your intentions in order to clarify the suitability of this type of
cleaning for your liner.
