IP Rating Information

An ingress protection, or IP, rating is used to specify the strength of an enclosure
surrounding electronic equipment. Each IP rating consists of two numbers. The fi rst
number indicates the level of protection an enclosure provides against intrusion by
solid objects, materials, or dust. The second number indicates the level of protection
against intrusion by water or liquids.
The Neptune Connect carries a rating of IP44. This rating indicates that the
Neptune system when using the Neptune Connect is protected against the following
conditions:
Penetration of solid foreign objects equal to or greater than 1.0 mm in diameter
Failure due to splashing water
The Neptune sound processor, AquaMic, and AquaMic headpiece cable carry a
rating of IP68*. This rating indicates that the Neptune system when using these
parts is protected against the following conditions:
Complete protection against dust penetration
Failure due to continuous immersion in water up to three meters (9 feet, 10 inches)
Neptune's industry-leading IP68 rating affords you peace-of-mind that your
processor system will continue to operate to AB performance standards at all
times-even while bathing and swimming.
*
Test conditions are specifi ed by the manufacturer. The Neptune system passed
testing performed following immersion at 3m for 30 minutes.
