2. Preparing a New Guide Bar
The new guide bar (5) must be fi tted with the chain tensioning
mechanism (21). Guide bar EPR 35-23 (ord. no. 65 405 265), EPR 40-23
(ord. no. 00 614 696).
25
21
‰ Place the chain tensioning mechanism (21) onto the guide bar (5)
on the outer side of the bar by inserting the guide pin of the
tensioning mechanism into the top mounting hole of the guide
bar (24). Then, attach the chain tensioning mechanism from below
through the bottom mounting hole of the guide bar (25), using the
chain tensioning mechanism screw (22).
‰ Regularly rotate the guide bar so that the ratio of time spent cut-
ting, using one side or the other, is approximately the same. Doing
so helps preserve the bar and reduces friction between the chain
and the bar, which would otherwise put a drain on the saw's perfor-
mance and could damage the engine.
3. Mounting of bar and chain
Attention! Risk of injury. Use protective gloves when in-
serting the chain.
No tools are needed for mounting the bar and chain on this chain-
saw type model!
‰ Place the chainsaw onto a stable surface.
‰ Loosen the manual clamping nut (7) by turning it counter-clock-
wise and remove the sprocket wheel cover (8). If a guide bar (5)
with a saw chain (6) is fi tted on the saw, slightly loosen the saw
chain (6) by turning the manual chain tensioner nut (21) before
removing the sprocket wheel cover (8).
‰ Fit a new chain (6) onto the guide bar (5), while maintaining the
correct orientation of the saw chain in line with the direction of
its movement. The teeth on the top side must be facing forward
24
(see fi gure). Saw chain EPR 35-23 (ord. no. 65 404 074), EPR 40-23
(ord. no. 00 614 697).
‰ Fit the loose end of the saw chain onto the slots of the drive sprock-
et (19) and fi t the guide bar (5) into the saw by fi tting the central
hole of the bar's chain tensioning mechanism (21) onto the chain
tensioning pin (23). If needed, adjust the position of the central
hole by turning the wheel of the chain tensioning mechanism.
Then, check that all of the segments of the chain are fi tted tightly
onto the guide bar and that the saw chain is guided by the drive
sprocket (19) with accuracy. Then, slightly tension the chain by
turning the wheel of the chain tensioning mechanism.
22
‰ Mount the sprocket wheel cover (8) by fi tting its catches into the
appropriate holes and push it fi rmly in place. Turn the manual chain
tensioner nut (20) so that the nut's teeth fi t into the teeth of the
chain tensioning mechanism. Then, slightly tighten the manual
clamping nut (7) by turning it clockwise. Tension the chain by turn-
ing the manual chain tensioner nut. The chain should be tensioned
so that it can be lifted up approximately 3 mm (see fi gure) off the
central section of the guide bar. Firmly tighten the manual clamp-
ing nut (7) by hand!
Attention! Chain tensioning aff ects service life of the cut-
ting unit materially and therefore it has to be checked reg-
ularly. When heated to the operating temperature, the
chain is stretched and tightening must be renewed.
Attention! During the period of running-in the chain must
be tensioned more frequently. If the chain vibrates or
leaves the groove, it must be tensioned immediately!
To tension the chain, loosen the manual clamping nut (7) slightly. Then,
tension the chain by turning the manual chain tensioner nut. Tension
the chain so that it can be lifted off of the central section of the guide
bar by approximately 3 mm. Re-tighten the manual clamping nut (7).
4. Connection of the electric chainsaw
We recommend to operate the chainsaw with the residual current
device with the max. breaking current 30 mA.
The machine must be connected to the mains, with the use of an auto-
matic switch in the diff erential protection circuit, to break the circuit if
discharge current to earth exceeds 30 mA.
The connection to the mains must meet the requirements of standard
EN 60364-1 and specifi c national regulations.
When the machine is on, existing voltage fl uctuations during unfavour-
able conditions in the mains (high mains impedance) may negatively
aff ect other connected appliances. You can request mains impedance
information from your power supplier. Use the machine only when con-
nected to suitable mains – maximum permissible mains impedance is
0,4 Ω.
Use only the lead-in cables approved for use outdoors
which are not thinner than the rubber cable H07 RN-F pur-
suant to DIN/VDE  0282, min. cross section 1.5  mm
must be protected from splashing water.
The damaged power cable with the plug  (12) may be re-
placed only and exclusively by the service centre appoint-
ed by the manufacturer, because special tools are needed
for this operation. Mobile devices used outdoors should be
connected through the residual current device.
To protect the lead-in cable, the chainsaw is fi tted with tension reduc-
tion. First, connect the machine's power plug (15) to the lead-in (ex-
tension) cable (16). Create a loop on the extension cable and insert it
from the back into the hole for a cable loop (17). Then, place the cable
loop into the hook for a cable loop (18). Pull the extension cable in the
direction away from the chainsaw (back) to tighten the cable loop in
the hook.
5. Switching on
‰ The front guard of the hand (4) must be in the unlocked position,
i.e. must be pushed towards the front handle (2).
‰ Press the lock button (13) on the left side of the front handle (11) by
the thumb and then the switch (9).
Attention! The electric chainsaw will be started immediate-
ly at a high speed.
‰ The lock button (13) serves for locking of unwanted start and af-
ter the switch is pressed, this button does not need to be held any
more.
‰ For switching off , release the switch (9).
