AVENTICS | Position Controller | R412004397–BDL–001–AC
Design and applications
The cylinders are operated this way until the actual value is at
the set point within an adjustable range. The valves are then
switched off.
With the position controller, you can:
W
control the position of the piston independently of the load,
W
set the end positions of the piston,
W
optimize the positioning system to fit your application.
4.4
What needs to be taken into account
when planning a positioning system
The maximum load of a positioning system is smaller than the
load of a standard cylinder of the same size. The full differential
pressure is present at the end position of a standard cylinder
piston, whereas a positioning cylinder only has enough of a
pressure difference to keep the forces in balance.
Avoid loads that are too heavy, as this will lead to an
unfavorable influence on the control characteristics.
The rigidity of a positioning system depends on the length/
diameter geometric ratio. A short, thick air column has a better
rigidity.
Use cylinders with short lengths and large diameters as
much as possible.
If the piston does not reach
the position or range in which the pulsating signal is switched
off due to limitations caused by stops, this will increase wear on
the valves.
Make sure that the set point range is smaller than the
mechanical piston stroke that is limited by external or
internal stops.
