Protective glass
14n
The safety glass windows have a plastic
coating on the inside, to prevent slivers
of glass from becoming loose and en-
tering the car if a projectile damages
the glass from the outside.
When opening or closing the roller
blinds, try to avoid contact with
the glass, so that the plastic coating is
not scratched. Never attach adhesive
labels such as road tax certificates or
toll stickers etc. to the inside of the win-
dow as they may cause the plastic
coating to crack and reduce its glass-
retaining
effect.<
Cleaning the windows
Use only water containing a window
cleaning or dishwashing agent available
commercially.
If windows are misted or iced over they
can be treated with an anti-fogging
cloth or a de-icing product.
Never use abrasive cleaning prod-
ucts or scrapers, as these will
damage the protective
Window heating
Windscreen and side windows
The windscreen and the front side win-
dows in the outside mirror zones can be
heated at outside temperatures below
+36.
To switch the heating on, press the but-
ton (arrow); to switch off, press it again.
The button is brightly lit when the heat-
ing is switched on.
Rear window
For technical reasons the view through
the rear window is distorted when it is
being heated, but this ceases as soon
coating.<
as the heating is no longer in operation.
Central locking system
When the car is driven away from a
standstill, the central locking system
takes effect when it reaches a speed of
8 km/h (app. 5 mph). In an emergency,
however, it can always be released
manually at the central locking button
(arrow) or at an inside door handle.
If the central locking is released manu-
ally while driving very slowly, after
which the car's speed rises again to
8 km/h (app. 5 mph), the system will
lock again.
