USER INSTRUCTION MANUAL [EN]

MPL Series T
filters for particulate, gas and combination with standard EN
148-1 threaded connection for
MPL
full facepiece reusable respirators.
General Description
A filtering device consists of a face piece (full face mask, half mask) connected with respiratory
protective filters. It can be used to purify the air from gases, vapours, dusts, mists and fumes which
are noxious to the health. The limits of use come from the type of filter, the facepiece as well as the
environmental conditions. The following information has a general character and shall be completed
with the national regulations and with the information notice of the equipment that has to be used
together with the filter. The warranty and the producer liability become void in case of misuses or
use not conforming with the instructions in this notice. The filtering devices are PPE of Category III
as defined by Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and must be used only by specially trained people well
aware of the limits for use imposed by law.
Selection Guide
The filters are identified by a distinctive colour and mark depending on the protection given as
stated in the relevant standards EN 14387:2004+A1:2008 (gas and combined filters) and EN
143:2000/A1:2006 (particulate filters).

Warnings
MPL Series T
filters should not be used in the following circumstances:
• Where the nature and concentration of the contaminant are unknown;
• When the oxygen content is less than 17% by volume (easily in closed environments such as
wells, tunnels, tanks or without ventilation) or more than 23.5% by volume;
• When the pollutant is carbon monoxide or, in any case, odourless and tasteless gas;
• When certain conditions represent an immediate danger to the life and health of the operator.
For use in potentially explosive environments, the relative regulations must be observed. The filter
must not be modified or altered. Leave the work area if the filter or respirator has been damaged
and you experience shortness of breath and / or dizziness. People with impaired sense of smell
should refrain from using filter respirators. When working with open flames or in the presence of
molten metal splashes, the use of personal protective equipment with gas and combination filters
could represent a risk to the operator. AX filters are for one-time use only and must be discarded at
the end of the use period. The filter does not need any maintenance or repair. Filters must be used
in combination with full face masks (EN 136:1998) with standard EN 148-1 threaded connection.
The AX type filter is disposable. The filter type Hg P3 can be used for up to 50 hours. The R mark
(reusable) means that the combination or particulate filter is suitable for use for more than one
work shift (8 hours). Filters marked NR (not reusable) should only be used for one shift.

Before Every Use
• Check that the filter type is suitable for the intended use. The type and class of the filter are easily
recognized on the label.
• Check that full face masks to apply the filter to are equipped with a standard EN 148-1 threaded
connection.
• Check both the filter and the mask for cracks, damage, signs of knocks and / or dirt. If so, they
should be discarded.
• Check that the thread and cap are in their original position and that the filter is not capped.
• Check the expiration date on the filter.
• The filter must be examined before each use. If there is any damage, it must be replaced.
Filter Use Instructions
• Remove the filter seal.
• Remove the protective cover.
• Remove the protective cap.
• Check the seal of the filter fitting on the mask. Replace it if it is broken or reassemble it correctly
in case of imperfect positioning.
Application
• Screw the filter onto the threaded connection up to the stop.
point > 65°C
• Check the tightness of the mask.
Storage
The manufacturer closes the filters in a sealed plastic bag and places them in a cardboard box. The
gases and vapours
filters should be stored unopened in a cool, dry place away from polluting atmospheric factors.
Avoid excessively high relative humidity levels, not exceeding 70%. Do not expose the filter to
sources of heat, do not exceed the temperature limits of + 50ºC and -10ºC, do not expose it directly
to sunlight. Once used, or to transport it, it is advisable to put the filter back in its original packaging.
point < 65°C
Cleaning / Maintenance / Duration
dusts, fumes and mists
It is not necessary to clean the filter.
Mercury vapours
The filter does not need maintenance or repair.
The filter should no longer be used:
• When it is saturated. The gas filter is considered saturated when the smell or taste of the gases/
vapors to be filtered is perceived. The particle filter and combined, when the breathing resistance
is too high.
• When the recommended usage time has been exceeded (5 years from the date of manufacture).
Expiration date
The expiration date is printed on each filter, this date will be valid if the filter has not been removed
from its original packaging and has been stored in accordance with the storage instructions.
