2) Measure the circumference of the thigh 15 cm above the centre of the patella (circumfer
ence B).
3) Determine the size of the orthosis (see size chart).
4.2 Adaptation
NOTICE
Incorrect setting
Damage to the orthosis due to overloading of the material and improper fit of the orthosis due to
breakage of load-bearing components
The orthosis may only be adjusted by qualified personnel.
Do not make any improper changes to the settings.
Adapting the splints
Individual adaptation of the aluminium bars is carried out by trained, qualified personnel.
1) Open the hook-and-loop cover for the bars (see fig. 1).
2) Take the bars out of the pockets (see fig. 2).
3) INFORMATION: Do not bend the bars in the area of the joint; maintain a minimum dis
tance of 3 mm from the plastic housing. Failure to comply could reduce the stability of
the bars. To optimise the fit, adapt the bars to the patient's leg contour using bending irons.
4) Reinsert the bars into the orthosis and fasten the hook-and-loop cover.
Adjusting the extension and/or flexion stops
► Change the extension and flexion stops only if advised to do so by the attending physician.
The markings on the stops indicate the angle at which the orthosis stops the leg in flexion or
extension (see fig. 3).
1) Insert the required extension stop, alternatively the flexion stop (see fig. 4).
→ The stop will engage with slight resistance.
2) Move the orthotic joint and check the position of the stops.
4.3 Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to improper or excess
ively tight application
Ensure that the product is applied properly and fits correctly.
1) Apply the orthosis around the leg from behind and position the patella in the opening (see
fig. 5).
2) Use the elasticity of the material and pull the protective edges over each other. Fasten the
orthosis with the hook-and-loop closures on the lower leg, then repeat this process on the
thigh (see fig. 5).
3) Pull the four fastening straps through the strap guide loops, tighten and close them (see
fig. 6).
4) To adjust the extension limitation, loosen the crossed hyperextension strap in the knee fold
(see fig. 7).
5) INFORMATION: For maximum extension limitation, slightly flex the knee joint while
fastening the crossed hook-and-loop closure. Adjust the strap to the desired length and
fasten the hook-and-loop closure (see fig. 7, see fig. 8).
4.4 Delivery
1) Check the product fits properly on the leg when handing the orthosis over to the patient.
2) Ask the patient to sit down, stand up and walk a few steps.
