FULLY CLOSED CENTER
a. Mount the cylinder adaptor (5) on the lathe
spindle.
b. In case of indirect mounting, mount the chuck
adaptor (2) on the lathe spindle. In case of
direct mounting, the chuck adaptor (2) (of T
thickness) is already mounted on the chuck.
c. Calculate the (H) length (see sketch), adding
R+S+T, or just measure the distance between
the two adaptors (5) and (2).
d. Calculate the (L) length of the draw bar (6)
according to the formula shown in the sketch
(for K and Z see table below).
e. Cut the draw bar (6) according to the (L)
length and make the thread (B) into the draw
bar to fit the regulating group (11).
f. Screw the draw bar (6) onto the thread of the
piston rod (D).
g. Push the cylinder piston (D) fully ahead.
h. Fasten the cylinder to its adaptor (5).
i. Mount the hydraulic fitting following the
above sketch.
j. Pull the regulating group (11) backward until the jaws
are fully closed.
50
k. Put the chuck in front of the spindle nose and
screw the regulating group (11) in to the thread
35
(B) of the draw bar (6) up to 5 - 10 mm from the
end, using the hexagonal wrench (F).
l. Position the chuck so that the face driver is in
line with its seat. With the cylinder at low
pressure, pull the chuck on adaptor (2) or
directly on the spindle nose.
m. Fasten the chuck using the fixing screws.
n. Check the unit. If the jaws do not make a full
stroke, cut the pressure and adjust the regu-
50
lating group (11) using the hexagonal wrench
(F), tightening or loosening. As a good rule, in
order to avoid peak loading on the draw bar,
the end of stroke "all forward" should be done
on the cylinder and not on the chuck.
PARTIAL OPEN CENTER
a. Mount the cylinder adaptor (5) on the lathe
spindle.
b. In case of indirect mounting mount the chuck
adaptor (2) on the lathe spindle. In case of
direct mounting, the chuck adaptor (2) (of T
thickness) is already mounted on the chuck.
c. Calculate the (H) length (see sketch), adding
R+S+T, or just measure the distance between
the two adaptors (5) and (2).
d. Calculate (L) length of the draw bar (6) accor-
ding to the formula shown in the sketch (for Y
and Z see table below).
e. Cut the draw bar (6) according to the (L)
length and make the thread (B) into the draw
bar and on the regulating group (11).
f. Thread the hole for the set screw (N).
g. Screw the regulating group (11) into the the
draw bar (6) and lock the set screw (N).
h. Screw the draw bar (6) into the chuck wedge
(C).
i. Screw the short connection rod (O) into the
piston rod (D) of the cylinder.
j. Push the cylinder piston (D) fully ahead.
k. Mount the cylinder on its adaptor (5).
l. Mount the hydraulic fittings, following the
above sketch.
m.Pull the draw bar (6) backward, until the jaws
are full closed.
235
n. Put the draw bar into the machine spindle.
Using the long hexagonal wrench (F), screw
Y
the regulating group (11) into the short
connection rod (O) up to 5 - 10 mm from the
end.

o. Position the chuck so that the face driver is in
line with its seat. With the cylinder at low
51

directly on the spindle nose.
70
p. Fasten the chuck using the fixing screws.

lating group (11) using the hexagonal wrench
