7.) Työnnä koukunvarsi 5 siten vetokoukkulaitteiston perusosan 1 peltien väliin, että koukunvarsi 5
sedanmallien tapauksissa kohdassa "e" ja farmarimallien tapauksissa kohdassa "f" on kiinnitettävissä
pulttien M12 x 80, välilevyjen 12,5 x 30 x 3 ja muttereiden M12 avulla.

1.) Remove rear bumper.
To do so, drill out two or three blind rivets (depending on model) on left and right from mudguard panel
and bumper (6 mm dia.). With models with two blind rivets, remove bolt in third point. If necessary,
remove rear wheels.
Year of manufacture up to approx. 1992
For bumpers with rubbing strips, remove rubbing strips. Then remove the six bolts under rubbing strips
and pull off bumper.
Year of manufacture approx. 1993
For bumpers with rubbing strips on left and right, remove rubbing strips. Then remove bolts under
rubbing strips and remove one bolt from below from both left and right sides and pull off bumper. In order
to expose openings of frame side members, remove bumper spacer bracket on left and right. First mark
positions.
Year of manufacture from approx. 1994
For bumpers without rubbing strips, remove a nut from both left and right from luggage compartment. To
do so, remove or lift luggage compartment panelling. Then remove one bolt from both left and right from
below and pull off bumper. In order to expose openings of frame side members, remove bumper spacer
bracket on left and right. First mark positions so that the bumper can be put back in the same position
when reassembling.
Year of manufacture from 1997 (V70/S70)
Remove one bolt from both left and right from below and pull off bumper. In order to expose openings of
frame side members, remove bumper spacer bracket on left and right. First mark positions so that the
bumper can be put back in the same position when reassembling.
Year of manufacture from 1998 (C 70)
Remove panelling in luggage compartment in order to take out taillamps. Also remove wheel trim cap
below taillamps.
Remove one bolt from both left and right from below and pull off bumper.
The bumper spacer brackets do not need to be removed.
2.) Remove rear exhaust bracket from vehicle.
On vehicles up to Model Year '98 this bracket consists of two parts. The upper part is no longer
required. The lower part is reused as described in Point 5.).
Vehicles from Model Year '99 have a one-part bracket. This is no longer required and must be replaced
with Westfalia-Part-No.: 920 040 631 001.
3.) Insert U profiles 3 and 4 on left and right into frame side member of vehicle, ensuring that fixing points 'b'
and 'c' are aligned.
Beforehand, with the Coupé, a spacer shim 17 must be fitted in the right and left frame side members
and aligned with fixing point 'c'. Loosely fit brackets 2 on vehicle on left and right at 'a' from front on rear
apron using hexagon bolts M10x30, washers 10.5x30x3 and hexagon nuts M10.
