Note:
The milling machine is equipped with a so-called re-
start protection facility: If the supply is interrupted for a
short time during operation, the milling machine will not
re-start automatically for safety reasons. However, the
milling machine can be started normally when the cor-
rect voltage is applied by pressing the start button.
Spindle height adjustment
The height of the milling spindle of the PF 400 can be
adjusted in two ways (Fig. 9):
1. With the hand wheel 1
2. With the drill lever 2
Height adjustment using the hand wheel
1. Slacken the clamping screw 3 (Fig. 9).
2. Set the required height using the hand wheel 1
(1 turn corresponds to 1.5 mm feed).
3. Be sure to retighten the clamping screw 3 before
starting work!
Feeding by means of the drill lever
1. Slacken the clamping screw 4 (Fig. 9).
2. Slacken the Allen screw 6 on the scale ring 5 and
set the scale to zero.
3. Retighten screw 6.
4. Set the required height using the drill lever 2.
5. Retighten clamping screw 4.
Note:
When drilling using the drill lever, in principle the proce-
dure is exactly as described above. However, the screw
4 must not, of course, be retightened while work is
being carried out!
Pivoting the milling spindle
The whole milling spindle can be swivelled about two
axes; firstly about the vertical (Z) axis and secondly
about the longitudinal axis.
To pivot about the vertical axis:
Slacken the screw 3 (Fig. 6) and pivot the complete
column into the required position. Then retighten the
screws.
The column of the FF 400 can be swivelled in the hole
of the compound table in a similar manner:
To do this, slacken screw 1 (Fig. 8) and pivot the column
into the required position. Then retighten the screws. If
this is difficult, the hole can be opened out by means of
the expansion screw 4. When the column is subse-
quently clamped, the screw 4 must of course be un-
screwed once more!
To pivot about the longitudinal access:
To pivot about the longitudinal axis, slacken screw 1
(Fig. 10) and pivot the milling spindle. Set the required
number of degrees on the scale 2 and retighten screw 1.
Fitting the collets
Caution!
Never insert the collet into the spindle by itself!
Always engage the collet in the nut first. Always ensure
that the collet and the milling machine have matching
diameters.
Please note: In addition to the collets supplied, further
sizes are available in our range of accessories. If you
should have any further questions, please contact our
customer service department. You will find the address
on the back of this manual.
Caution!
Be sure to remove the plug from the socket in order to
avoid accidental starting! Risk of injury!
1. Slacken the union nut 4 (Fig. 11) on the milling
spindle.
2. Place the required collet 5 (Fig. 12) in the union nut
and engage using slight axial force.
