When pressing the buttons on the keypad, the unit may
temporarily become out of level due to its high accuracy. The
motor will not rotate until it has self-leveled again.
Working with a detector, use the highest rotation speed.

Line mode

By pressing the line button 2, the unit is set in standard line mode, pressing
the button again the function stops. By pressing and holding the line button
2 a programmable line can be created by turning the prism manually from
the desired start- to the desired end-point. After releasing button 2, the
created line will be performed at lowest speed.
Depending on the visibility and the desired working range you can change
the speed of the movement. By pressing the speed/rotation button 3 several
times, the speed of the movement increases stepwise (4 steps).
By pressing the arrow keys 4 and 5 the line may be moved right- or leftwards.
By pressing and holding the keys, the movement of the line may be fastened.
When pressing the buttons on the keypad, the unit may
temporarily become out of level due to its high accuracy. The
motor will not rotate until it has self-leveled again.
Self-leveling, out-of-level alert
Once turned on, the unit automatically levels itself in ranges of 8% (± 0,8 m
/ 10 m). In order to recognize the leveling process at the measuring area
and in order not to mark faulty heights during this operation, the rotation
stops and the laser flashes while leveling.
Once leveled, the unit constantly monitors its level condition. The Out-of-
Level Alert is activated 8 seconds after self-leveling and reacts, in
dependence of the deviation, as detailed below:
• < 2 mm/10 m: These level errors are automatically corrected without
stopping the prism. They are generally caused by building or ground
vibration or oscillations caused by wind.
• > 2 mm/10 m < 20 mm/10 m: These level errors are also automatically
corrected.The prism will stop rotating and the laser will blink while leveling
so no inaccurate measurements will be taken.
• > 20 mm/10 m: These level errors put the unit into alert mode because
they are generally caused by a disturbance which could lead to inaccurate
measurements. When entering into alert mode, the prism stops, the laser
turns off, a warning sound is heard and the Power indicator 6 flashes.
Turn the unit off and then on again. To asure your former elevation, you
have now to check or arrange the exact height.

LEVELING ACCURACY

Influences on the leveling accuracy
The overall accuracy of the unit can be influenced by many factors:
• factory accuracy;
• tilted penta prism due to dirt on the magnetic rotor;
• temperature of the unit;
• ambient influences like rain, wind and temperature.
The factor which influences the unit's accuracy most is the ambient
temperature. Vertical differences in temperature near the ground can divert
the laser beam, similar to the heat waves seen on hot asphalt streets.
This factor also applies to all optical measuring devices such
as automatic levels and theodolites.
