USING THE GENERATOR SET (7.2):
NOTE: This generator set has been built to current standards and designed to satisfy a wide range of applications.
Remember however that every application is subject to strict electrical, accident prevention and sanitary standards. For this reason
the generator set should be considered as an integral part of a system that should be designed, tested and approved by qualifi ed
technicians and/or companies.
• In order to avoid electrical accidents, all connections to the distribution panel must be carried out by qualifi ed technicians. Incorrect
connections can harm people and damage the generator set.
• Protection against indirect contacts: all the generator sets, when operating normally, follow the law of electrical separation. However,
they can be supplied with various protection options (differential, isometer) by the manufacturer upon specifi c request, or they can be
protected in the same way during installation by the user.
It is therefore important to follow the following instructions:
1) Standard generator set: protected by electrical separators. This equipment has a thermic protection device and/or a magnetother-
mic device to protect against a surge of current, overloading and short-circuiting.
In these cases the generator set should under no circumstances be earthed using the terminal "PE" or with any other part of the
generator set.
2) Generator set with optional switchboard (or with other devices installed by the user): protected by a circuit breaker which auto-
matically cuts off the power supply. It has thermal circuit breaker and or magnetothermal switches combined with differential circuit
breakers or insulation testers. In this case the generator must be connected to a ground plate through the terminal "PE", via an insula-
ted yellow-green conductor with a suitable section.
WARNING: In the event of differential circuit breakers installation, it is important for its correct operation that:
A) On single-phase generator sets the neutral point that corresponds to the joint of the two main windings is also earthed.
B) On three-phase generator sets the neutral point that corresponds to the star point in the case of a star connection is also earthed.
In the case of a delta connection it is not possible to install a differential switch.
• The generator set is preset for grounding the masses; a special screw, marked with the symbol PE, allows all the metal parts of the
generator set to be connected to a ground plate.
• Do not connect to the generator set any appliances with unknown electrical specifi cations or with specifi cations different from those
of the generator set (i.e. different voltages and/or frequencies).
• The electrical circuit of the generator set is protected by a switch, which is either magnetothermal, magnetothermal-differential or
thermal type. In case of overloading and/or a short circuit the power will be cut immediately. To reset the power, disconnect all ap-
pliances, check the cause of the short-circuit and/or overload and reset the switch.
• If using the generator set as battery charger (where available), place the battery at a distance of 1 m from the generating set, making
sure that the fi ller plugs are removed from the cells. Take care to observe the battery polarities, incorrect connection of positive and
negative poles could cause the battery to explode.
WARNING: During charging, the battery gives off infl ammable vapour. Therefore observe the maximum caution while char-
ging and keep children far away.
• With a star-delta switch the following options are available:
THREE PHASE 4OO V (full design load)
SINGLE PHASE 230 V (1/3 of design load)
THREE PHASE 230V (full design load)
SINGLE PHASE 230 V (2/3 of design load)
When set on "O" all power points are disconnected.
• Before setting the switch to any of the above, make sure that no appliances are connected to the generator set. Be sure to set the
switch to the correct current as shown on the tag, in order to avoid damages to the appliances.
- When the generator set is in use, do not place any objects on the frame or directly on the engine: any foreign bodies may jeopardize
its performance.
• Do not hinder the normal vibrations that the generator set makes when in use. The silent-blocks are of an adequate size to work
properly.
MOTOR WELDING SET SECTION
Connect the welding sockets through cables of a suitable cross section -refer to table 1. Choose the right polarity according to the
type of electrode to be used -refer to the electrode manufacturer' s instructions.
Open the accelerator handle in order to obtain the right welding current according to the rpm.
By turning it clockwise the rpm is increased, thus increasing also the welding current. By turning the accelerator handle anticlockwise
the rpm is reduced, thus reducing also the welding current.
DOUBLE POSITIVE TERMINAL
When using electrodes of diameter 3.25 mm or lower place the clamp on the positive "Max 140A" terminal. When using electrodes
of diameter above 3.25 mm place the clamp on the positive "Max power" terminal. This allows better welding arc quality. When using
cellulose electrodes, it is advisable to keep the clamp on the + 140 terminal also for diameters above 3.25 mm.
