Trolley with electrical system

The trolley consists of a powder-coated steel housing on four
steering rollers, two plastic doors and a drawer with a plastic front
part.
The screen is placed on top of the trolley. The head of an Allen
screw ensures that the screen does not move. In addition to that,
there are six pilot-drilled holes which are used for mounting the
center plate (1 688 000 332N + 1 987 009 UX0N) or cover (1
685 519 958N + 1 987 009 UX1N) retrofit kits which are
available as special accessories.
The lower front part is factory-equipped both with holes and with
threaded bolts, distance sleeves and nuts for the installation of the
infra-red remote-control system (1 987 009 A13N, special acces-
sories).
The trolley is factory-equipped with sensor holders and with the
electrical system of the axis measuring device.
The mains feed cable with the main switch supplies the support
sheet. On the support sheet, there are two device fuses (2.5 AT)
and, connected in series, the power supply of all components.
The power supply of the PC, the screen and the printer is provided
by fixed mains cables which are plugged in at the corresponding
devices.
The power supply unit for the power supply of the wheel align-
ment hardware (in case of WA 900, sensors with cable, and in
case of WA 920, the radio transceiver) has been mounted onto
the support sheet and has also been fused via the two device
fuses.
It is possible to change the voltage adaptation up to FD 03/03 via
soldering jumpers from the standard configuration (230V 50/60
Hz) into a version which is suitable for the USA and Japan (110V
50/60 Hz). A varistor is used for the protection against peak
loads.
As from FD 04/03, it is possible to adjust the voltage range via
cable jumpers at the 7-pin supply connector STW 1 and 3.
The power supply unit (1 987 009 AE0N and ...AE4N) supplies
three voltages (+8V, -15V und +15V). +8V may be loaded with
4A and +/-15V can be loaded with 0.315A each. On the printed
circuit board, there are two system voltage fuses (500mAT) and
two fuses for the three extra-low voltages. The existence of each
of the three small voltages is signalled by an LED.
During operation, three LEDs on the power supply unit printed
circuit board must illuminate. The small voltages are run via the
„bus cable set" to the two data sockets on the side walls of the
trolley. In addition to that, a line with a data plug is available (only
+8V). This line is led onto the trolley surface for the supply of the
radio transceiver (1 987 009 AG2N) in case of model WA 920.

In the case of the radio axis measuring device WA 920, there are
four additional battery charging printed circuit boards (1 987 009
AE1N) installed on the support sheet. They are protected with two
primary fuses (500mAT), one varistor for protection against
voltage peaks and two secondary fuses (2AT). If a 1A fuse is
installed here, this fuse can be replaced any time by a 2AT fuse,
as stated in the assembling imprint.
Each of the charging printed circuit boards supplies a controlled
charging current and is connected to the four charging terminals
via a 2-pin cable.
Starting from FD 04/03, the electronics of the four charging
controllers is installed on a PCB and connected to the four
charging terminals via a 2-pin cable.
At the rear side of the terminals, the cable is fastened with two
push-on connectors. The charging controllers have been desig-
ned in such a way that the NiCd batteries are charged within two
hours. The NiMH batteries which are available as optional acces-
sory are fully charged over night.
Serving a operation mode feedback, there is one green LED per
charging PCB on the side of the trolley (labeled 'ON'). This
indicates whether the charging PCB is supplied with a voltage or
whether the fuse is defective.
Another LED (labeled 'battery symbol') indicates whether a
charging current flows. Due to the intelligent charging current
control, the battery is charged until 100 % of its capacity is
reached; then the charging device automatically switches over to
a floating operation. The charging process starts again, when the
measuring head is separated from the charging terminal.
If the device is equipped with a PC 1 987 009 U04N, a socket
outlet with earthing contact is available on the support sheet. It is
possible to connect an external device to this outlet. Make sure
that the voltage applied to this socket outlet corresponds to the
supply voltage of the wheel aligner.
The SmartCard reader is equipped with a primary SmartCard in
the SIMCARD format. This is factory-installed and contains all
license information and release settings for the device. The
secondary SmartCard in cheque card format is necessary for
executing upgrades. The additional information of the secondary
SmartCard is copied to the primary SmartCard via program
functions.
The hardware is in a black metal box and contains a SmartCard
reader, a converter from RS232/USB to RS485 and a plug-in
connection for the infra-red remote control kit (1 987 009 A13N)
which is available as optional equipment.
The voltage supply is ensured via the USB plug-in connection of
the PC.
The data transmission to the sensors is executed from the PC
1300 0460
(COM1 or possibly COM2) via a 9-pin SUBD connection to the
9-pin SUBD panel jack at the SmartCard reader. From there (9-
pin SUBD built-in plug), the bus cable set runs to the two plug-in
sockets in the external device wall and to the cable connection,
where the remote transceiver box is connected into the box of the
radio set WA 920.
The USB plug-in connection for the printer (e.g. PDR U02) is
always fixed into the mobile chassis.
