Familiarize operators and people responsible for hoist installation and service with all applicable
specifications prior to placing the unit into service. All the requirements of these specifications,
including testing should be met before approving the hoist for operation.
The four most important aspects of hoist operation are:
1. Follow all safety instructions when operating the hoist.
2. Allow only people trained in safety and operation of this hoist to operate the hoist.
3. Subject each hoist to a regular inspection and maintenance procedure.
4. Be aware of the hoist capacity and weight of load at all times.
Always operate, inspect and maintain this hoist in accordance with any applicable safety codes and
regulations.
• The hoist is not designed or suitable for lifting, lowering or moving persons. Never lift loads over
people.
• The brake is engaged whether lowering or raising the load.
Check that load chain stopper or anchor is securely installed in the last link of the free end of the load
chain. The load chain stopper or anchor is intended to prevent the load chain from becoming disengaged
from the hoist and is not intended to support the full load.
• Do not continue to operate the hoist after the chain stopper or anchor has contacted the hoist
body as damage may occur to the hoist resulting in a falling load which can cause severe injury,
death or property damage.
• The clicking sound of the pawl on the ratchet gear is normal when a load is being raised.

Positioning Unloaded Hook (FREE CHAIN)
Short Distances

2. Grip the free knob and turn clockwise.
Long Distances

2. While pressing down the retaining pawl, pull the free knob
out. The hand lever and brake cover will pull away from the
hoist body. Release pawl.
3. Pull down on the load chain to move the hook to the desired
location.
4. Stop free-chaining by moving the selector lever to the down
position. Press down on the retaining pawl and hold. Push
the free knob in. Rotate the free knob slightly clockwise if
necessary. Hand lever and brake cover will move to hoist
body. Release pawl.
