Tip:
In ultra-high density patching scenarios, layering patch cord slack over vertical routing will
provide easier access when performing moves, adds and changes.
Making and maintaining connections with patch cords
When installing patch cords, the following guidelines and recommendations should be followed:
1. Maintain all patch cords with minimal cross-overs or twists under the labeling window.
2. When sliding trays out, apply pressure to the right and left sides of the label cover and pull evenly
outward.
3. When sliding trays in, apply gentle pressure downward as the tray slides in.
4. If any resistance is felt performing either step above, stop and verify no patch cords from or with
neighboring trays are causing interference.
Info:
When consistently routing all patch cords from deck to another, bundling each decks cords
with Velcro tie wraps may assist in maintaining organization.
When routing Patch cords from one HDF frame to an adjacent HDF Frame, 5 meter cords
are recommended. For off-frame routing to another device, required patch cord lengths
must be evaluated to include proper slack coil management. All patch cord length
requirements should be reviewed prior to procurement based on the user intended
configuration.

Grounding the HDF3168 Frame
A grounding point is provided on the rear of each HDF 3168 Frame. It is located in the upper right corner
of the frame mesh wall when facing the rear doors. The mounting location accepts a standard two-hole
bonding lug connector to allow for ANSI/TIS 607B compliant grounding methods.

The HDF 3168 Frame is rated to GR63 standards when mounted per the provided instructions using the
identified hardware.

Installing an optional Seismic Bracing Kit
When required or applicable, a seismic frame kit is available for installation. Install an HDF3168 Seismic
Kit by following these steps:
Seismic Frame Kit – Part Number:
#F3168-EQK
1. Mark and drill locations for anchoring system as detailed in section 4.1.
2. Place the Frame over the anchoring points.
3. Place the Seismic Bracing plates over the mounting holes as shown in the exploded detail
(figures 32 and 33).
