Operating Instructions/Safety requirements/Maintenance
Earth
The Jet Pump must be correctly earthed. The short cir-
cuits will render the warranty of the pertinent goods
void. If you need to lengthen the original cable, then
the same size cable must be used.
Operating instructions
Before switching on the Jet Pump, you must install the
suction and discharge pipes. The suction pipe is used
to extract the water from the tank to the pump. Pay
special attention to the pressure of the connection bet-
ween the pump and the suction pipe. Insufficient pres-
sure will reduce the performance of the pump or will
stop this from working. If the suction pipe is less than
5m, we recommend that you use a 1 1/4" pipe.
In order to reduce the suction time, we suggest that
you fill the suction pipe before use. The Jet Pump must
not run without water. If it is used to supply domestic
water or an automatic water supply, a cut-off valve can
be installed on the suction pipe. Otherwise, after acti-
vating the automatic switch on the pump, the pressure
of the system will be reduced due to the installation of
the previously mentioned parts.
Pressure pipe:
The pressure pipe is used to transfer the water from the
pump to the place where it is required (for example,
a tap, etc.,). To minimize the loss of friction produced
by the water pressure, we recommend that you use a
minimum diameter pressure of 3/4".
- When the Jet Pump is running, the water outflow
end (for example, a tap or irrigation nozzle) must
remain open to discharge the air from the pipe. If
the water outflow is closed, this may damage the
Jet Pump due to overheating, after running for
more than 5 minutes.
- Freezing of the Jet Pump must be avoided and it
must not be kept in places where freezing is pos-
sible in winter.
- The Jet Pump can be quickly damaged if the suction
contains sand or stones that it finds in the water,
which would reduce its performance. Therefore,
you need to install a filter.
- This water Jet Pump is not suitable for continuous
use, for example in industries or the mining sector,
or for water recycling systems.
Safety requirements
• The power supply must comply with the product spe-
cifications. If necessary, please consult the instruc-
tions of your local power supplier to ask about the
connection conditions. If the pump or the current
cable does not comply with these conditions, do not
connect the pump.
• Never move the pump by pulling on the cable.
• Never disassemble the plug or shorten the cable. If
you do so, this will render the guarantee void.
• Keep the connection (plug and socket) dry.
• The Jet Pump is not suitable for use in swimming
pools and lakes or other situations in which people
can come into physical contact with water and, the-
refore, it must not be used for these purposes.
• Always disconnect the Jet Pump from the mains
when cleaning or carrying out any maintenance
work on the pond.
• This Jet Pump is suitable for pumping water at a mi-
nimum temperature of 4ºC and a maximum tempe-
rature of 35ºC.
• The Jet Pump must not run without water, as this may
produce unrepairable damage.
• Clean the chambers every now and again, rinsing
them with clean water to ensure that they do not
block up with dirt.
Maintenance and cleaning
Under normal circumstances, the Jet Pump does not re-
quire any maintenance. However, it must not be placed
outdoors when it is raining, in damp areas, or in dirty
or frozen places.
- Any freezing, running on empty or blockage due to
impurities must be avoided.
- Always disconnect from the mains before carrying out
any maintenance on the Jet Pump.
- If the electrical cable deteriorates, this must be repla-
ced by professionals. The damage that results from
any short circuit is not covered by the guarantee.
- If there is a malfunction on the pump, all repairs under
guarantee must be carried out in an authorized tech-
nical service centre.
- Any modification or alteration to the pump can only
be carried out with the consent of Rothenberger.
