Pump ranges
These operating instructions concern the side chan-
nel blower SPH 160 (01).
The SPH 160 can reach a capacity of 270 m
parallel connection and a pressure difference up to
+450 mbar respectively -450 mbar at series connec-
tions.
Description
The SPH works according to the dynamic compress-
ing principle utilising a non contact rotating impellor.
They have a built-in motor. Two impellors are fitted on
to the motorshaft where they work independently from
each other. The SPH use the motor fan for cooling.
The SPH units are driven by a speed controlled
brushless DC motor.
The main parts are made from a special aluminium
alloy except for the shaft, motor rotor and stator.
Application
SPH are suitable for use in the industrial field i. e.
the protection equipment corresponds EN DIN
294 table 4.
SPH 160 (01) is provided for installation into an Air Center. It's suitable for use with air of a relative humidity up to 90 % and dry non-aggressive
gases.
Side channel blower SPH can produce alternatively vacuum, pressure or pressure/vacuum.
Following connections are intended:
1. DDP
both stages for pressure operation, parallel connection:
2. DDR
both stages for pressure operation, series connection:
one stage for pressure operation or for vacuum operation: pressure connection ➝ B
3. DV
4. VVR
both stages for vacuum operation, series connection:
Warning – Suction of explosive gases
Any non compliance may lead to severe injury to persons and damage to the blower may occur!
Dangerous mixtures (i. e. flammable or explosive gases or vapours), water vapour or aggressive gases must not be handled.
Caution – Do not exceed the temperature
At non compliance severe damage may occur on the blower.
The ambient and suction temperature must be between 5 and 60°C.
Caution – Noise Emission
Potential risks for operating personnel.
When working permanently in the vicinity of an operating unit we recommend wearing ear protection to avoid any damage to hearing.
Setting up
Warning – hot surfaces
Blowers that have reached operating temperature may have a surface temperature at position (Q) of more than 70 °C.
Do not touch these hot surfaces (see also warning signs)!
The blower, especially when the units are built-in, the cooling air entries (E and the cooling air exits (F) must have a minimum distance of 10 cm
from any obstruction (see pict.
Caution – Pollution in the suction air
Suction of solid matter and pollution may cause damage to occur to the blower.
To protect the blower the operator should install a filter on the suction side.
The models SPH can be operated in different built-in positions.
Note
For installation that are higher than 1000 m above sea level there will be a loss in capacity.
Installation
For operating and installation follow any relevant national standards that are in operation.
1. Vacuum connection at (A) and (A
Note
Long and/or small bore pipework should be avoided as this tends to reduce the capacity of the blower.

Warning – electrical installation
Danger to life through unprofessional electrical installation!
The electrical installation may only be made by a qualified electrician under the observance of EN 60204. The main switch must be provided by
the operator.
