3. TUNING YOUR KITE
What can I expect when I let
go of the bar?
Pics 1 - 6
After you have let go of the bar, you can
expect the kite to drift to either side of
the wind window as it rolls over in the
sky to the upside down position and
falls to the water. The bar has traveled
approximately 5 meters up the Shift
line. The bar will travel up the Shift line
even if you have multiple spins in the
lines. While it may be slower to react it
will still act in the same manner.

3. TUNING YOUR KITE
What can I expect when I let
go of the bar?
Pics 7 - 8
When you are ready to relaunch
the kite, pull the kite bar to
yourself making sure to push the ex-
tra line downwind and away from your
body. Never wrap the line around your
hand or fingers. Always be ready to let
go of the Shift line if the pressure on
the kite is too great. It is common for
the kite to fly off the water as shown
in the pictures. You may want to kick
slowly upwind and away from any
slack Shift line while you're dealing
with this excess line in the water.
Grab the bar. Make sure the red side
of the bar is in your left hand. Hook
into the QRTL and begin to help the
excess Shift line feed back out through
the hole in the bar toward the kite until
all the slack line has pulled through
the bar.
Do
this
procedure
carefully
watching the kite at all times so as to
keep it on its canopy. As the Shift line
pulls completely through the bar, the
kite will be in a position to begin the
relaunch procedure.
