c. Use a pipette to fill the sensor with the first calibration standard.
d. Put a plug in the fitting on the top of the sensor.
e. Push confirm.
f. Wait for the response change to the expected value (60 seconds maximum), then push
confirm.
8. Enter the PAH value of the first calibration standard , then push confirm.
9. Remove the plug from the top of the sensor.
10. Open the valve to discard the calibration standard, then close the valve again.
11. Rinse the sensor with deionized water as follows:
a. Fill the sensor with deionized water.
b. Open the valve to discard the deionized water from the sensor, then close the valve again.
12. Measure the second calibration standard as follows:
a. Put the contents of the ampule into the empty vial. Touch the top edge of the ampule to the
top edge of the vial to pull the liquid into the vial.
b. Use a second pipette to fill the sensor with the second calibration standard.
c. Open the valve to discard the calibration standard from the sensor, then close the valve again.
d. Use the second pipette to fill the sensor with the second calibration standard.
e. Put a plug in the fitting on the top of the sensor.
f. Push confirm.
g. Wait for the response change to the expected value (60 seconds maximum), then push
confirm.
13. Enter the PAH value of the second calibration standard , then push confirm.
14. Review the calibration result:
• COMPLETE—The sensor is calibrated and ready to measure samples. The slope and/or offset
values show on the display.
• FAIL—The calibration slope or offset is outside of accepted limits. Do the calibration again.
15. If the calibration result is complete, push confirm.
16. Remove the plug and valve to discard the calibration standard.
17. Discard the open ampule.
18. Discard the contents of the vial.
19. Connect the sample tubing to the sensor.
20. Start the flow of water to the sensor, then push confirm.
The output signal returns to the active state and the measured sample value shows on the
measure screen.
4.8 Enter the calibration offset and slope manually
As an alternative to the 2-point calibration procedure, manually enter the offset and slope values to
fine tune the factory calibration.
1. Select SENSOR SETUP > [select sensor] > CALIBRATION.
2. Select an option.
Option
Description
SET SLOPE
Enter a slope. Options: 0.01 to 9.99. Default: 1.00.
Note: PAH = (uncalibrated PAH x slope) + offset
SET OFFSET Enter an offset. Options: -9999.0 to 9999.0 (default: 0).
Note: PAH = (uncalibrated PAH x slope) + offset.
Note: Calculate and enter the offset value before the slope value is identified and entered.
