• The screw (1) in the tube receiver must be secured with Loctite and tightened to a torque of 16 Nm. Use a
torque wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• The central screws (3, 4, 5) must be secured with Loctite and tightened to a torque of 35 Nm. Use a torque
wrench (8 mm Allen key).
• The alignment instructions and adjustment notes must be observed.
• Do not unscrew any screws other than those described here.
• To adjust the axle geometry, secure the screws (9) of the wedges (8) with Loctite and hand tighten.
• The use of talc, particularly together with lubricants, can cause the joint to jam. Therefore, please do not use
any talc!
• Do not use compressed air for cleaning. We recommend the use of a brush.
• Any manipulation of any kind whatsoever will lead to premature wear and breakage of the knee.
Use with the IKF-Adapter
• In the event of visible changes, wear or impaired function, the IKF-Adapterand its buffer must be replaced.
• Please ensure that the patient knows how to handle the IKF-Adapterand the prosthesis before leaving your
premises. Failure to observe this warning may result in the patient falling.
• Any manipulation of any kind whatsoever will lead to premature wear and breakage of the adapter.
• Ensure that A-P adjustment of the IKF-Adapter is correct.
• Ensure that the buffer component is correctly mounted.
Use with the loop adapter
• To guarantee the safety of the user, ensure that you use sufficient carbon/glass fibre reinforcing material when
laminating the loop adapter.
• After lamination, the thread of the loop adapter must be free from residues of Plastilin and resin, as otherwise
the central screw (4) cannot be fully tightened.
• The fine serrations on the two adjustment washers must face each other.
Use with the 3-arm adapter
• The 5M locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter must be tightened to a torque of 10 Nm and secured with
Loctite. Use a torque wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• For readjustments, do not unscrew the adapter with the external thread (12) by more than one turn.
Observe all the above points, otherwise the guarantee becomes null and void!
MAINTENANCE
The joint must be inspected, and repaired if necessary, at least every 6 months!
Inspect
• the alignment
• the screw connections
• the bonding and torque of the central screw
• the suitability of the patient (e.g. max. body weight, degree of mobility)
• for loss of lubricant
• for damage to the joint and accessories
• for contamination of bushes
• the A/P, M/L play in the joint
• the extension stop (10)
• the proximal adapter visually for damage
• for damage to the two adjustment discs (13) when using the loop adapter (14)
• the thread connection when using the adapter with external thread (12)
• when using the IKF-Adapter: check that it functions properly, especially the mounted buffers
• for soiling with talc
• At every inspection/maintenance, the piston rod of the pneumatic system must be cleaned with a soft cloth
and a mild detergent. The piston rod is then lubricated with silicone spray or grease or with a comparable
lubricant.
• Please change the 3 filter foams of the pneumatic cylinder every 12 Months
