Front buffer (without hole)
Brown
Standard
Blue
X-Fest
The hardness of the buffers must be selected and inserted to suit the patient's requirements.
Note: If the user feels unsafe while walking, e.g. has a slight wobble during the stance phase, use the next hardest
buffer. If the user feels that there is too little damping in the stance phase, use the next softest buffer.
Mounting the buffer elements
The buffer without a hole serves as the the front stop buffer (A).
The back buffer (P) with holes for progressive damping, is mounted in the IKF-Adapterwith the holes facing
upwards. (f ig. 2)
Paso Knee with loop adapter
• Fill the central thread of the loop adapter (14) completely with Plastelin so that no resin can penetrate into the
thread during lamination and the central screw can later be screwed in completely. Safety requirement!
• Make up a dummy disc and fix this to the adapter with double-sided adhesive tape.
• Laminate the loop adapter (14) with sufficient carbon fibre and fibre glass to suit the individual patient's needs.
Important: Please tie the groove off well!
• After lamination, grind the distal end of the adapter free and remove the Plastelin.
• Slide the washers (6 & 7) over the 29 mm central screw (4) and guide the screw through the central opening in
the head of the joint (16).
• Slide the adjustment discs (13) over the thread of the central screw (4) and tighten the loop adapter (14) to a
torque of 35 Nm.
• When fitting the two adjustment discs (13), make sure that the fine serrations on the inner surfaces face
towards each other.
• Secure the 29 mm central screw (4) with Loctite and use a torque wrench (8 mm Allen key).
Paso Knee with 3-arm socket adapter
• Before adjusting (moulding) the 3-arm socket adapter to the individual socket form, screw the adapter with
external thread (12) into the internal thread of the 3-arm socket adapter. Secure the M5 locking screw of the
3-arm socket adapter to a torque of 10 Nm.
• Mould the 3-arm socket adapter to the individual socket shape.
• Loosen the M5 locking screw on the 3-arm socket adapter and remove the attached adapter.
• Cover the internal thread of the 3-arm socket adapter with grease and screw in the dummy supplied. Once
again secure the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter to a torque of 10 Nm. Fill the slot in the 3-arm
socket adapter, the screw head, and any exposed thread with Plastelin.
• Laminate the 3-arm socket adapter with sufficient carbon fibre and fibreglass to suit the individual patient's
needs.
• After lamination, loosen the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter and remove the screwed-in dummy
and any remaining resin or Plastelin.
• For final assembly, now screw the adapter with the external thread (12) completely into the internal thread of
the 3-arm socket adapter.
Attention: when carrying out any later adjustments, do not unscrew the adapter with the external thread (12)
more than one full turn.
• Secure the M5 locking screw of the 3-arm socket adapter with Loctite and to a torque of 10 Nm. Use a torque
wrench (5 mm Allen key).
• Slide the washers (6 & 7) onto the 29 mm central screw (4), guide the screw through the central opening in the
head of the joint (16), and tighten the adapter with the external thread (12) to a torque of 35 Nm.
• Secure the central screw (4) with Loctite and use a torque wrench (8 mm Allen key).
Attention: never mix up the central screws! The pyramid adapter (11) must be screwed tight with the 40 mm long
central screw (5), the loop adapter (14) and the adapter with the external thread (12) must be screwed tight with
