AUXILIARY PARK DISTANCE CONTROL
Advice
The part "Auxiliary park distance control", ordering No. ·KODA BEA 609 001,
is intended solely for professional mounting by the contract partners of
·koda Auto . The mounting requires the employment of special tooling and
Workshop Manuals; because of that, the part "Auxiliary park distance control"
must not be sold to final users in a not mounted state.
The auxiliary park distance control, ordering No. BEA 609 001, is intended for
vehicles ·koda Octavia II, and it serves to facilitate the parking if backing. The
four sensors in the rear bumper watch the distance between the vehicle and a
possible obstacle. The driver is being informed on the extent of the free area by
acoustic signal from the loudspeaker.
If an obstacle appears at a distance of 160 cm from the rear section of the vehi-
cle, it is signalled with short beeps at an interval of 1 second. Approaching the
obstacle, this interval gets shorter continuously. At a distance of 30 cm, the
beeping changes into an uninterrupted tone (signal STOP), accompanied with
jump changes of the its pitch, see individual zones, fig. 23.
When dismounting individual parts and mounting them back to their
places, proceed according to the Workshop Manuals.
- During mounting, the car battery is to be disconnected.
- Dismount the rear bumper.
Important
Advice: Before gluing the holders of the parking sensors, control unit
and loudspeaker, always clean and degrease the respective places with
the cleaners HHA 381 011 and HHA 381 010. Let it dry for 10 minutes.
Once the place has been prepared in this way, do not touch it more for
any reason; in the contrary case, it is not possible to guarantee a perfect
affixing of individual parts.
Explanations to the figures:
No. 5 (marking of orifices for drilling)
- In the bumper, circular stamped sections for sensors are marked. Mark out
the orifices for drilling 5 mm below their centres.
No. 7 (orifice of the dia. 18 mm)
- Drill the orifices from the outer side of the bumper with utmost precision.
Remove eventual burrs on the inner side, and clean the orifices.
