8. Automatic flash synch speed control

Depending on the camera type and the operating
mode selected, the shutter speed switches to flash
synch speed when flash readiness is reached (see
camera manual).
Shutter speeds faster than the camera's synch
speed cannot be set, or are automatically
converted to the camera's synch speed. Various
cameras dispose of a synch speed range, e.g. 1/30
sec. to 1/125 sec. (see the given camera manual).
The camera then selects a synch speed that
matches the camera mode, the ambient light and
the lens focal length.
With the mecablitz 54 MZ-..., shutter speeds
faster than the camera's flash synch speed
can be used in conjunction with some camera
models in the E-TTL HSS and manual HSS
flash
corresponding chapter of these operating
instructions).
Automatic flash synch speed control is not
provided by the digital cameras PowerShot Pro 90
IS, G1, G2 and G6. These cameras permit flash
shots to be taken at all shutter speeds. Shutter
speeds faster than 1/125 sec. should not be used if
full light output of the mecablitz is required for the
existing photographic situation.
