Preventive measures, guards and other protection measures

DANGER: The PIPECUT TURBO 250/400 generates a visible laser beam from the
!
front of the housing, directed towards the material to cut (class 2 laser according to EN
60825-1).
When using the unit, keep out of the way of the laser. Do not manipulate the laser
under any circumstances. Do not look directly at the laser beam. Do not look directly
at the laser beam using auxiliary optical equipment (binoculars, telescopes, etc.). Use
appropriate eye protection.
The work area of the laser beam is identified with the following pictographic:
CHECK THAT ALL DANGER, WARNING AND CAUTION SIGNS ON THE CIRCULAR PIPE SAW
ARE LEGIBLE AND FIRMLY ADHERED
WARNING: Keep your hands away from the cutting area of the disc. Keep your other
!
hand on the motor housing. If you are holding the saw with both hands, the disc
cannot cut them.
• Do not touch below the workpiece. The guard cannot protect you against the disc below the
workpiece.
• When performing a task in which the cutting tool may come into contact with hidden cables
or its own cable, secure the power tool using the insulated grip surfaces only. Touching a
live wire would make the metal parts exposed to the power tool live also and give the user
an electric shock.
• Always use discs with the correct size and type (diamond or round) of orifice for the shaft.
Discs with a different fitting to that of the saw will rotate excentrically, which causes the loss
of control. Use original ROTHENBERGER discs.
• Do not use washers or studs for the disc that are not original. The washers the studs of the
discs have been specifically designed for the saw: optimum performance and safe use.
• If the disc is caught or if cutting is interrupted for whatever reason, release the trigger and
hold the saw without moving it in the material until the disc has stopped completely. Do not,
under any circumstances, remove the saw from the piece or pull it back while the disc is still
moving. Look for the problem and correct the cause for the trapped disc.
• When restarting the saw in the workpiece, centre the disc in the cut and verify that the teeth of
the saw are not stuck in the material. If the disc is stuck, disconnect the machine and remove it.
• Do not use blunt or damaged discs. Discs that are not sharp enough or improperly fitted
cause a narrow cut that causes excess friction and can jam the disc.
• Take special care when performing "penetrating cuts" in existing walls or other blind areas.
The protruding disc could cut objects that may cause counter-strikes.
• Ensure the disc guard (Figure A/5) closes properly before every use. Do not use the saw
if the disc guard does not move freely or does not close instantaneously. Do not reinforce
or secure the disc guard in the open position. If the saw is dropped accidentally, the guard
could buckle. Lift the disc guard with the retraction handle and ensure it moves freely and
that it does not touch either the disc or any other part, at any angle and depth of cut.
