NOTE: Use only a 25-gauge or smaller HUBER-point
needle to puncture the ACCU-FLO Reservoir through the
reservoir dome.
C. ACCU-FLO Double Dome Flat Bottom Reservoir
The low-profile, flat-bottom design of this reservoir
eliminates the need for a formal burr hole, provides
flexibility in subcutaneous location, and allows the
ventricular catheter to be revised without disturbing
the reservoir. By utilizing a three-way connector at the
inlet tube, dual ventricular catheters can be attached
at that end.
To flush or check the patency of the ventricular catheter,
occlude the reservoir dome nearest the distal catheter
with finger pressure. Press the reservoir dome nearest
the ventricular catheter. Release the distal dome. Then
release the ventricular dome. Repeat this motion rapidly
several times to increase the flow of CSF through the
system. Failure of the ventricular reservoir dome to
depress easily can indicate catheter blockage. To flush
the distal catheter, occlude the reservoir dome nearest
the ventricular catheter and depress the dome nearest
the distal catheter. Release the ventricular dome, then the
distal dome.
