INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Your doctor or other healthcare professional has
prescribed the OXYMIZER oxygen-conserving
device for you. The Oxymizer helps conserve
oxygen by means of a reservoir system, which
allows for the accumulation of oxygen during
the exhalation and pause phases of a person's
breathing pattern. Used properly, this device
will provide you with the oxygen that you need,
along with some additional benefits.
It is important that you follow your
physician's instructions carefully concerning
the use of the OXYMIZER:
•
The OXYMIZER is designed to replace your
standard nasal cannula and is designed for use
with continuous flow oxygen systems.
•
Use of the OXYMIZER may allow you to
reduce the flow of oxygen delivered by your
oxygen system (i.e., cylinder, oxygen
concentrator and standard nasal cannula)
without reducing the amount of oxygen
delivered into your body. The reduction in
continuous oxygen flow can be as much as 75%
less than when using a standard nasal cannula;
this can vary based on the liter flow and the
users breathing pattern.
•
If you use the OXYMIZER with a portable
oxygen system (i.e. cylinder), the reduction in
flow will generally allow the system to last
longer. This may allow you to be away from
your main oxygen source for a longer period
of time and/or may enable the use of a smaller,
lighter weight portable system.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW
YOUR PHYSICIAN'S INSTRUCTIONS
CAREFULLY CONCERNING:
•
The details of your oxygen prescription,
including when and how long to use per day.
•
The oxygen liter flow rate to use.
NOTE: The flow rate indicated for use with the
OXYMIZER device may be one quarter to one
half of the oxygen liter flow prescribed for use
with a standard nasal cannula.
•
When to replace your OXYMIZER device.
