A. HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1.- FOREWORD
The operator or operators assigned to the machine must have a perfect knowledge of
the position and functions of all controls and of the characteristics of the machine. It is
therefore essential for this manual to be consulted with the greatest attention before
installing, using and servicing the machine.
This instruction manual is intended for all persons assigned to operation of the machine,
and is an integral part of the machine itself. It must be kept in good condition for future
reference.
IN CASE OF DOUBTS, PROBLEMS OR USES NOT ENVISAGED BY
THIS MANUAL, CONSULT GERMANS BOADA, S.A. ASSISTANCE
GROUP.
GERMANS BOADA, S.A. DELINES ALL LIABILITY FOR PROBLEMS,
BREAKAGES OR ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY FAILURE TO FOLLOW OR
APPLY THE INDICATIONS OF THIS MANUAL.
2.- PERMITED AND PROHIBITED USES OF MACHINE
DM-500 is a machine that is designed for cutting slabs of materials such as marble,
granite, sandstone and brick in general. Cutting on other materials may therefore not
be compatible with the characteristics of the machine, and may have an adverse effect
on its safe use.
WARNING
This machine MUST NOT be used to cut wood, plastics, metal, or similar
materials.
This machine MUST NOT be used for processing materials and workpieces with
weight, shape or dimensions that are not compatible with the structural
characteristics of the machine, thereby creating hazards for its stability.
The machine referred to in this instruction manual is suitable for operations on
slabs with the following dimensions:
Max. length = 125 inch
Max. width = 39 3/8 inch
Max. weight = 350 kg
IMPORTANT! While the maximum length of slabs that can be
processes clearly depends on the length of the machine itself, the width
and height of slabs are parameters that must always be carefully
considered, so as to avoid the hazard of compromising the stability of
the machine, with the consequent risk of malfunctions.

(section B 3).
CLEANLINESS OF THE WORK AREA AND THE MACHINE
- The floor where the operator stands must always be kept clean and free from all
residues of water, oil etc, so as to prevent the risk of slipping.
- A machine that is kept clean and in conditions of efficiency will have a longer working
life and will maintain its value over time.
HAZARD RISKS BEFORE USE
- Before starting work with the machine, ensue that there is no-one inside the
manoeuvring area. Never leave the machine unattended.
- Never for any reason whatsoever remove or tamper with safety devices. Always
check their efficiency before using the machine.
HAZARD RISQ WHEN USING OPTIONAL LASER DEVICE
- Before using the machine when the optional laser device for definition of cutting lines
is fitted, carefully read the relative instruction manual.
- The light emitted by the laser device is dangerous for the eyes. Exposure to the direct
reflected light emitted by the laser device is prohibited.
OPERATIONS FOR DECOMMINSSIONING MACHINE
- When it is decided to stop using the machine because it is obsolete or can no longer
be repaired, it must be decommissioned by making it unusable and free from risks.
- Disconnect the machine from energy supplies and safely discharge all residual energy.
- Enclose machine and all other parts inside strong packaging and proceed with disposal
in compliance with applicable legislation, consulting relevant local authorities with
responsibility for such disposal procedures.
4.- HAZARD ZONES AND ZONES OF RESIDUAL RISK
Although this machine has been designed incorporating numerous safety measures to
protect the user, there are some risks that have been impossible to eliminate through
design and construction procedures. These risks are termed.
'residual risk that cannot be eliminated', present in areas considered to be 'hazard
zones', and are caused by the possible improper use of the machine by the
personnel assigned to its operation.
