"Autonegotiation" port setting
Optimizing port settings on the IO device and IO controller
The transfer medium and the duplex option are checked during startup of the IO device for control unit wiring. These checks
take time. You can shorten the time the check requires with specific presets of these options. Make sure that the settings
made correspond to the actual conditions (using the correct cables).
To synchronize the settings for the local port and partner port, disable the "Start autonegotiation" check box under "Port
options" for both ports of the CPU 1507S.
If you have disabled the autonegotiation setting including autocrossing, the time for negotiating the transmission rate during
startup is saved.
Reference
You can find more information on the topic "Cabling rules with disabled autonegotiation" in the STEP 7 online help.
Timeout input in "Modbus_Client" program block
The timeout is approx. 38 seconds, regardless of the value entered under "Blocked_Proc_Timeout".
"Address Tailoring" for software controller as I-device
Software controllers configured as I-devices do not support the "Address Tailoring" function.
Copying know-how-protected blocks
When blocks with know-how protection are copied between the S7-1500 CPU and the software controller, these blocks need
to be recompiled. The correct password has to be entered for compiling.
Address assignment
To ensure an optimum runtime when accessing variables, the variables must be located on an address that fits their length.
In the following figure, this would be either in the light-blue or the dark-blue area.
● You can create ≤ 1-byte variables (e.g. Bool, BYTE, Char, ...) on any addresses.
● You always have to create 2-byte variables (e.g. WORD) on even addresses.
● You always have to create 4-byte variables (e.g. DWORD, Int, REAL, ...) on addresses divisible by 4.
● You always have to create 8-byte variables (e.g. LInt, ULInt, LWord, LReal, LTime, LDT, LTOD) on addresses divisible
by 8.
