Before Initial Use

1. Remove all packaging materials and any possible protective fi lms used for protection during
transportation. Never remove the rating plate and any possible warnings.
2. Wipe the device with a clean, damp cloth. Rinse the glass jug (13), the fi lter insert and the
measuring spoon with a little mild detergent and clear water.
3. Set up the device and connect it (see the "Setting Up and Connecting the Device" chapter).
4. Before you enjoy your fi rst coffee, we recommend that you carry out a trial run with coffee
beans to remove any possible production residues in the water system and in the grinder. To
do this, follow the instructions in the "Handling and Operation" and "Preparation" chapters.
When the device is fi rst used, production-related additives may cause a small amount of
smoke and / or an odour to be produced. This is normal and not a device defect.
5. Repeat this process twice. Do not drink this coffee!
6. Clean the device and accessories (see the "Cleaning and Care" chapter).

Setting Up and Connecting the Device

PLEASE NOTE!
• Only connect the device to a plug socket that is properly installed and matches the tech-
nical data of the device. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so
that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated.
• Do not use the device in conjunction with extension cables.
• Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam
could cause damage to them!
• The surfaces of furniture may possibly contain elements which can attack and soften the
feet of the device. If necessary, place a suitable pad below the feet.
1. Place the device on the kitchen unit or another dry, solid, fl at, heat-resistant and splash-proof
work surface. Ensure there is suffi cient clear space on all sides (at least 20 cm to the sides and
30 cm above).
2. Fully unwind the connecting cable and connect it to a plug socket that is easily accessible. You
will hear a beep and the operating lamp in the ON / OFF button (19) and the control lamp
in the MILD button (15) will light up.
