1.
Remove carbon canister splash guard panel – Using a flathead screwdriver, remove (2) push pin-rivets from carbon canister splash guard panel on driver side. Remove the panel from (2) studs on
the frame rails and spare tire panel. Return to vehicle owner.
2.
Loosen rear wheel well liners – Using a flat head screwdriver, remove (2) push-pin rivets from the rear wheel well liners, per side. Using a short Phillips screwdriver, remove (2) screws from the
side of wheel well liner, per side. Keep for reinstallation.
3.
Lower vehicle exhaust – Using the exhaust removal pliers, lower muffler by removing (2) rubber hangers, (1) on each end of muffler. Using pliers, slightly bend heat shield on passenger side
closest to end panel. Note: Be sure that exhaust is supported before removing rubber hangers. A spray lubricant or soapy water on rubber hangers make them slide off metal pins more easily.
4.
Remove end panel bolts – Using a 12mm socket, remove (1) bolt from vehicle end panel (see figure 1, existing weldnut locations), both sides, see figure 1. Return to vehicle owner. Note: The
existing weldnut remains fastened to opposite side of end panel. Do not remove.
5.
Trim Fascia – Using a hack saw, cut off second tab on driver side fascia and mark 6.75" distance from edge of first left tab on driver side fascia and trim 1" square notch, see Figure 2. Mark 1.75''
distance from edge of curvature on passenger side fascia and trim another 1'' square notch if needed (optional), see figure 2.
6.
Install Hitch – Tape (2) 1/2'' and (2) 3/8'' flat washers ①② on the hitch brackets and align holes with hitch bracket slots. Insert Carr. Bolt and spacer into tow hook ③⑨, see figure 1. Raise
hitch into position, over the exhaust, and loosely install 1/2'' carriage bolt, spacer, nut, and conical washer ③⑦⑤⑧ at the lower innermost holes of end panel, both sides, see figure 1. Note:
make sure spacers lay flat on end panel and horizontal. Loosely install M8 bolt and conical washer ④⑥ into existing weldnut. Loosely secure the center bracket to tow hook with 1/2''carriage
bolt, spacer, conical washer, and nut ③⑨⑤⑧.
7.
Tighten all M8 fasteners with torque wrench to 20 ft -lb (27 N*m) and all 1/2" fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).
8.
Reinstall rear wheel liners and exhaust – Reinstall (1) screw and (2) push-pin rivets into rear wheel well liner, per side. Raise exhaust back into position.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which
has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
