TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
The engine does
not reach full speed
and emits excessive
smoke.
The engine starts,
runs, and accelerates
but will not idle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Incorrect lubricant/fuel
mixture.
The air filter is dirty.
The spark plug is worn
out.
The engine overheats.
The spark arrestor
screen is dirty.
The idle speed screw
on carburetor needs
adjustment.
SOLUTION
Empty tank. Use fresh fuel and the correct
2-cycle lubricant mix (40:1).
Clean the air filter. Refer to Cleaning the Air
Filter section in this manual.
Clean or replace the spark plug. Reset the
spark plug gap. Refer to the Spark Plug
Replacement section in this manual.
Allow the engine to run at idle for 5 minutes.
Then stop the blower and allow it to cool for
about 20 minutes.
