DESCRIPTION
Your CATEX™ DT-150 electrical installation tester is used for :
• checking for the presence of mains line voltage across the terminals of a 2P or 2P+G
power outlet ;
• checking the ground connection of the protection conductor ;
• locating the position of the phase, on the right or left in the power outlet compartments ;
• checking the performance of 30, 300, 500 and 650 mA differential sensitivity devices.
The operational test of the differential devices is only operational on 230 V single-phase
electrical circuits between phase and neutral.
CATEX™ DT-150 can be used :
• on 2P+G 20 A power outlets with an adapter
• on 2P+G 32 A power outlets with an adapter
• on panels with a CATU adapter P/N M-88-790.
VOLTAGE PRESENCE CHECK
Red LEDs
or
lit = power outlet energized.
Caution, if the red LED does not light up, see : Special situations No. 1.
Red LED
lighted = 400 V present, see: Special situations No. 5.
DT-150 must never be used to check for the absence of voltage.
GROUND CONNECTION CHECK
On the front panel, symbolizing a 2P+G power outlet:
lighting of green diode
= continuity of ground protection conductor.
Caution : if the green diode lights up on its own, the situation is abnormal. See : special
situations No. 3.
PHASE LOCALIZING TEST
Normally, a power outlet is cabled with the phase on the right, the neutral on the left and
the ground pin uppermost. If this condition is complied with :
Set switch
to the right: red LED
identifying the phase should light up.
Set the switch to the left, red LED
should not light up.
If the power outlet is cabled with the phase on the left :
Set the switch to the left: the red LED should light up. Set the switch to the right : the red
LED on the right should not light up.
Phase identification testing should be carried out with the equipment held in the hand.
Caution : if a phase is found on right and left during a phase identification check, your ins-
tallation may not be correctly cabled. See : special situations No. 2.
DIFFERENTIAL DEVICE TESTING
Leave switch
in the position identifying the phase.
Select the sensitivity with selector . Press test button . The differential device must trip
causing the diodes to go out. The test is carried out at the nominal assigned tripping cur-
rent of 30, 300, 500 and 650 mA.
