Heel Stiffness
Heel too soft
Symptoms:
• The foot comes to the flat position too early. The user feels like sinking into a hole.
• More energy is necessary to climb up over the toe.
• The toe will feel too stiff.
• The knee can hyperextend.
Action:
• Shift the socket anterior (or the device posterior).
Heel too hard
Symptoms:
• Rapid heel-to-toe movement.
• Unsatisfactory prosthesis control at initial contact.
• Energy return feels minimal.
• The knee can become unstable.
Actions:
• Shift socket posterior (or foot anterior).
• Consider use of a different shoe.
Foot too soft/stiff
Symptom:
• The foot is too soft or stiff.
Action:
• Consider a different category selection.
Foot size does not match the sound side
Symptom:
• The foot moves inside the shoe.
Action:
• Replace the foot with a correct size foot.

PRODUCT MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Doff ing the Foot Cover
Doff the foot cover and the Spectra sock before annual inspection, removing sand or debris and cleaning.
1. Remove the foot cover attachment (Figure 5a).
2. Insert a shoehorn behind the foot (Figure 5b).
3. Push the shoehorn down and pull the foot out of the foot cover (Figure 5c).
4. Fully remove the Spectra sock.
