Care and Maintenance

It is important to clean and disinfect your stethoscope to prevent
possible cross-contamination.
•
Eartubes and tubing can be wiped down with alcohol or mild
soapy water.
•
Eartips may be removed for thorough cleaning with alcohol or mild
soapy water.
•
Diaphragm replacement: Under normal use you should rarely need
to remove the rim and diaphragm for cleaning purposes. The exterior
of the diaphragm can be cleaned with alcohol or mild soapy water.
However, if you do need to remove diaphragm, follow the instructions
below:
CAUTION: The original Harvey stethoscopes contain rubber latex which
may cause allergic reactions.
A.
Hold the bell and turret section in one hand, and exert
pressure on the back of the diaphragm. Grip the
threaded ring of the diaphragm with your other hand
and turn the ring counterclockwise to loosen.

To reduce spring
tension, grasp
each eartube at
its bend and
gently pull
outwards.
E.
To increase
spring tension,
squeeze
the eartubes
together.
