must be expressly declared compatible with dimmers by the manufacturer.
The lighting load controlled by the dimmer must be connected to terminals 4 (neutral
"). IMPORTANT – Connecting multiple lamps to
"N") and 5 (downline phase "
terminals 4 and 5 is possible, but is not recommended. In general, observe the fol-
lowing warnings.
• Do not connect more than 3 lamps to a single dimmer.
• All lamps connected to terminals 4 and 5 must be of the same type. Mixing led and
fluorescent lamps – or even lamps of different makes or models – may cause the
dimmer to malfunction or even fail.
• Using the dimmer to adjust the brightness of fluorescent and led lamps may signifi-
cantly reduce the controlled power. This depends largely on the electronics used in
the lamps themselves. When using such lamps, you must test the operation of the
dimmer in each case; if in doubt, contact the dimmer's manufacturer.
4 - LEARNING THE TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
OF CONNECTED LAMPS
After installing and connecting the dimmer, it must be told to which type of lamp it
is connected. The following two procedures memorize the technical characteristics
of the lamps in the dimmer; this is necessary for the system to operate correctly
(minimum/maximum brightness, illumination curves, etc.). Each type of lamp behave
differently at a given power setting: for example, if the brightness is set to 10%, an
incandescent lamp will turn on, but a led will most likely not do so.
4.1 - Learning the type of lamp connected
The dimmer is factory set to control incandescent lamps from 1 to 150 Watt. To
select a different type of lamp, proceed as follows.
01. Press and hold down the dimmer button: wait 5 seconds for the led to turn on
and then turn off. Now release the button.
02. Press and hold down the dimmer button: wait 5 seconds for the led to turn on
and then another 5 for it to turn off; wait for the led to flash 3 times and release
the button.
03. Press and hold down the dimmer button: wait 5 seconds for the led to turn on
and then another 5 for it to turn off; wait for the led to flash 2 times and release
the button.
04. Select the type of lamp you wish to program from the list and slowly press the
dimmer's button the number of times indicated for that type:
• Incandescent lamp, 150W - 250W = 1 press.
• Incandescent lamp, 1W - 150W = 2 presses.
• Led lamp = 3 presses.
• Fluorescent lamp = 4 presses.
Wait for 10 seconds for the led to flash the same number of times.
05. Press and hold down the dimmer button: wait 5 seconds for the led to turn on
and then turn off. Now release the button. To confirm the procedure, the led will
flash twice.
5 - COMPATIBLE TRANSMITTERS AND THEIR OP-
ERATION
5.1 - Compatible transmitters
The dimmer is equipped with NRC 433.92 MHz technology, using a rolling code
encoding; this makes it compatible with the Nice transmitters listed in Table B. Refer
to the Nice catalogue or www.niceforyou.com for further information.
5.2 - Operation of transmitters with sliders
These transmitters, along with conventional control buttons, are fitted with a touch
sensitive capacitive strip. The strip works like a slider, to enable switching lamps on
and off and adjusting their brightness.
• Briefly touching the slider with a finger: sends an absolute positioning command
to the dimmer. For example: touch the slider 30% along its surface; the brightness
is set to 30%; on the other hand, touch the slider at 0% along its surface to set the
brightness to 0%, etc.
• Sliding your finger along the slider (in either direction): sends a series of com-
mands to the dimmer which dynamically adjusts the brightness. Sliding your fin-
ger on the slider surface sends relative positioning commands; i.e., regardless of
where you start, the brightness is increased/decreased from its initial value until
you stop touching the surface. This means that you can adjust the brightness from
its minimum value (as given in Table A) to its maximum value, and not from 0% to
100%. You may need to slide your finger along the slider surface more than once
to completely adjust the brightness from minimum to maximum.
• If the lamp is already set to maximum brightness, attempting to increase its setting
will have no effect.
• If the lamp is already set to minimum brightness, attempting to decrease its setting
will have no effect.
• On some Era P slider models (e.g.: P6V, P6SV, etc.), before sending a command
you must select the target dimmer by pressing the button for the channel on which
the dimmer in question has been memorized.
• After sending a command, before you can send another you must wait for the led
to go out: if you do not do so, the lamp may respond unpredictably.
• Touching the slider for a long time sets the transmitter to standby mode. To reacti-
vate it just press the slider surface again, or press another button.
